Hurricane Court takes its name from the Hawker Hurricane fighter aircraft which were manufactured here in great numbers by the Hawker Aircraft Company during the 1940s. The Hurricane played an instrumental role in winning the Battle of Britain, while also paving the way for the rapid development of transatlantic air travel.
In a dramatic commercial gamble and without a single order on their books, Hawker Aircraft swiftly set up the Langley Factory in 1938 and built 1,000 aircraft. By 1941 they had taken over all Hurricane production. The final Hawker Hurricane rolled off the production line in July 1944 and many still fly today. You can often spy these impressive machines at air shows and displays around the world, including the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight.

Development OverviewAs a new and exciting development coming to Langley, Hurricane Court provides a wonderful place to live with a 10 year global secure warranty. From the outset and throughout the project, this site emanated potential and we immediately set about transforming it into a luxurious residential property.
Happily, the fabric and the structure of the building were already in excellent condition, making our job easier and letting us focus squarely on reimagining and revitalising the building as a space our residents would be proud to call home.

The space’s simple architectural geometry allowed us to create the first-ever courtyard scheme in Langley itself. It meant that we could design a landmark communal area by simply adding a linking block at the rear of the building, making Hurricane Court’s jewel in the crown: its private garden.
By placing this feature inside a gated residential space, we created the perfect microcosm – a community within the already idyllic community of Langley. To breathe new life into this modern, iconic building we also added a new floor and new roof design, delivering Langley’s first residential private terraces.
