Prevention.

• This landslide could have been prevented in really only one way. If they had not of dug away the loose soil on the side of the mountain to obtain the gold dirt, they would of not been in trouble. Reports had said that the mountain had cracks already in it from previous rainfall, and the digging away of this soil had made it worse. They could of built there houses away from the potential landslide area.

Regulations.

• http://www.voanews.com/content/philippines-gold-mining-regulations-cause-problems-for-local-prospectors/1756558.html . The government is banning small scale operations due to having unsafe practices and ways of mining. They are bringing in bigger corporations because they have safe ways of mining and cant do it safely. Regardless of these regulations the government is making there are still a large amount of illegal mining operations, which is more than likely what this operation was before it had collapsed.
