Meeting agenda topics
• Communications – Abby Tozer
• Recent sediment sampling results – Brendon Love
• Update on variation application – Brendon Love
• Independent Monitor feed back – Andrew Kohlrusch
• Update on tender process – Brendon Love
• Other matters – Brendon Love
• Wood waste site progress - Ken Tarboton
Recent sediment sampling results
• Sediment sampling and analysis was carried out in the canal and adjoining drains / wetlands (link to sampling locations)
• The purpose of the sampling was:
– To baseline the canal prior to handing the project site to the contractors
– To ensure that contaminant levels within side drains and areas not previously investigated were below remediation targets
3
Sample Locations - West• Samples circled in red
are above remediation target of 60 pg I-TEQ/g
• These are in privately owned part of canal outside of project scope and MfE deed funded area
Sample Locations - EastSamples circled in red are above remediation target of 60 pg I-TEQ/g
Bulk of dioxin (86%) above remediation threshold will be removed by current project

Actions proposed
• Some locations are outside of the scope of the consents and project funding deed
• Further sampling has been completed to define the extent of elevated contaminants –analysis underway
• Once defined, remediation or management options can be considered.
• Additional funds & approval of new consents will be required
• Land is not owned by BoPRC
7
• Containment of contaminant upstream of SH30 is required to ensure current project objectives are not compromised (e.g. re-contamination)
Actions proposed (cont.)
8
• Floodgates now in normal operation
• Discussions with landowners underway
• Project team considering alternative delivery approaches (e.g. east to west)
Update on variation application
• Consent variation application lodged on 18 April 2016
• s92 request received and responded to
• Focus has been on water quality in discharge and further consideration of flood mitigation control measures
• Final report to Independent Commissioner in late July
• Decision expected in August
9
RFP process
• Two very strong tenders evaluated based on non-price attributes
• Prices received outside of budget
• Negotiation underway with preferred contractor
• Focus to develop revised implementation plan that meets FY16/17 budget and long term project goals
10
• Competitive Dialogue undertaken Feb.-April.
• Stage 2 RfP closed on 27 May
• RFP responses evaluated
Other matters
• Fence installed between the canal and Keepa Road walkway/cycleway
• Filtrate results still close to detection limit (5 pg I-TEQ/L)
• Baseline Air Quality report online
• Bioremediation cell testing ongoing
• Some vegetation clearance and mulching completed along canal

Wood waste site progress
• Contaminated site working group (CSWG) meetings (Feb, April, July 2016)
• Revised draft management plans being written
• Sites prioritised for site inspections based on desktop assessment of risk
• Site inspections underway to assess risks, wood waste cover and reinforce management plan requirements by owners / lessees
• New signage proposed for CSWG approval – 26 July
