There are whispers that this is the 10th year of the Kent Gardens PTA Camp!
Possibly more! Whatever the exact number of years, our continued success can be
attributed to a number of factors: our instructors, our leadership and our community.
At Kent Gardens PTA Camp, we are extremely fortunate to offer a unique trait other local
camps cannot offer: our instructors. They are the magnet that pulls the students back summer
after summer. What is unique about our instructors? We pride ourselves in offering classes
taught almost exclusively by Fairfax County Public School teachers. The remaining non-
FCPS teachers are either actively teaching in surrounding counties or have had several years of
experience in education. These are instructors who want to be with your child, they spend 10
months out of the year with students and just cannot get enough!
A big thank you to our former camp director, Dr. Camille Galanes-O’Neil, better known as Dr.
G-O, for laying such a great foundation and dedicating many summers to this camp. Her
efforts and shared experiences have been indispensable to the PTA and the current camp
director. We continue to constantly self-assess and look for improvements in order to provide
your child with the most positive camp experience possible. Countless hours are spent during
the non-summer months to ensure that our camp offerings and activities are well thought out
and properly developed. The PTA and our camp director, like our instructors, hope your child
will not only make new friends, but create lasting memories of a fun and enriching summer.
Finally, none of this would be possible without the continued support from our Kent Gardens
community and our neighboring communities as well. We appreciate the choice you make
when you entrust us with your child. To our new families, welcome to the community
and we hope to see you summer after summer!
