from Brandywine Virtual Academy
The Brandywine Virtual Academy (BVA) is now offering courses for students who require remediation prior to taking or retaking the Keystone Exams. These online courses offer students the flexibility of being able to complete coursework anytime, anywhere with Internet access, but with the accountability and weekly progress monitoring of a traditional course for credit.
Students can begin studying as early as April 22 and will have until August 7 to complete the course. Students may work at their own pace, scheduling around summer vacations or commitments, as long as they meet the overall course deadline established by their district or are finished by August 7 (whichever is earlier).

The Details:Courses are being offered for each content area of the Keystones exams: English I, Algebra I and Biology I. Each remediation course uses PDE-approved content from Odysseyware and is aligned with the PA Core Standards.
Courses begin with a pre-test that assesses students prior knowledge and determines specific areas where remediation is needed. Students are then presented with subject-specific material targeted at those areas that they did not master in the pre-test. Courses are tailored to meet the individual needs of every student by only presenting that material in which they are not yet proficient.
Every lesson throughout each of the courses includes quizzes that check for understanding as well as end-of-unit exams. All courses have the support of a highly qualified BVA teacher in our virtual office, and students can email teachers with questions or to request one-on-one assistance. Students are able to progress at their own pace as well as revisit subject-specific areas that require additional practice for mastery. Weekly progress reports are provided to district representatives and any guidance members desired.
