Dear Sir
I am researching the family of the Rev. John Moore ,Sr and his son-in-law
Emanuel Skinner (also Baptist minister) who were associated with the Falls
of Tar River in Nash County ca 1748/1780 - members of Kehukee A$sociation
of Baptist 1765. John Moore evidently died in N.C. but Emanuel Skinner
migrated to Robertson Co. Tn about 1798. If you have any church minutes re~
lating to this association in this particular period of time or any
inforimtion on these ministers- please inform me ano how the materials
would be made available to me. Any help most appreciated.
Yours truly

EMMANUEL SKINNER
Church at the Falls of Tar River, Nash County, North Carolina.
This is an ancient and respectable church. According to the
best accounts we can get, this church was constituted on Swift
Creek, by elders C. Daniel and John Moore, in the year 1757.
Whether the church was constituted on the Free-will or Regular
Baptist order, we are not able to say. Elder John Moore was
their pastor a number of years, while the church was on the re
gular plan. But in 1780, he took a dismission from the church
and moved out of the neighbourhood. After this, Emmanuel Skinner,
a worthy member of this church being an ordained minister, and
raised up in the church, supplied the place of a pastor, but was
never appointed by the church to that office. In September,
1797, he took a dismission from the church and moved to Cumberland
in Tennessee .....
