Who we are
In 1962, FHT founder, Mr Wallace Sharps started The Society of Beauticians
In 1963 the Society of Beauticians became the Society of Health & Beauty Therapists
In 1975 the organisation was renamed the Federation of Holistic Therapists to represent its members who were expanding their fields of interest to reflect the holistic approach to therapy treatments
Since inception FHT has always been the UK’s largest and leading professional association for complementary, beauty & sports therapists
A not for profit organisation representing our members at national and international level

The Federation comprises 6 Councils;
International Federation of Health & Beauty Therapists
International Council of Holistic Therapists
International Council of Health, Fitness & Sports Therapists
Association of Therapy Lecturers
Health & Beauty Employers Federation
Governing Council comprises a President & 7 Vice-Presidents elected annually by members
20 staff at Head Office in Hampshire, England
84 Local Support Groups nationally
