Matthew 11:28, “Come unto me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.”
To all who sin and need a Savior, to all who are burdened and need rest, to all who sorrow and long
for comfort, to all who struggle and seek victory, to all who hunger and thirst after righteousness,
and to whosoever will come, Providence Presbyterian Church opens wide her doors and offers
welcome in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ.

The Adoration Of God
*Call to Worship Romans 10: 9,13 Rev. Michael Cannon
“If you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that
God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For everyone who calls on the
name of the Lord will be saved.”
*Prayer of Adoration and Lord’s Prayer

*The Westminster Shorter Catechism No. 87
Pastor Cannon: What is repentance unto life?
All: Repentance leading to life is a saving grace, by which a sinner having truly
realized his sin and grasped the mercy of God in Christ, turns from his sin with
grief and hatred and turns to God with full resolve and effort after new obedience.
*Gloria Patri No. 735
Confession Of Our Need Of Christ And God’s Grace
Corporate Confession of Sin
“Gracious Father, it is your will that your people should be one in Christ and
reflect the eternal unity that exists in the Trinity. Yet we have selfishly chosen the
way of division and dissension. Give us your enabling grace to repent of our pride
and disobedience and to submit to your revealed will. We have built up walls of
hostility fashioned with hatred and prejudice. Free us from the idolatry in our
hearts that hinders us from godly union and peace. Save us from considering as
normal that which is a scandal to the world and an offense to your love. Pour out
your Spirit on us that we may worship you with one heart and one mind; through
Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen”
The Assurance of Pardoning Grace 1 John 1:8-9
“If we claim to be without sin, we deceive ourselves and the truth is not in us. If
we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify
us from all unrighteousness. ”

“Despite the rebellion of his son, David knew God was a shield for his people and he cast himself on the
Lord. Peace is not attained by a magic wand but a quiet deliberate trust in the God and Father of our Lord
Jesus Christ. David has assurance as God’s king. He cannot settle for less than victory, a victory that
comes from the LORD and blesses his people.”

ADULT SUNDAY SCHOOL SPRING CLASSES
COLOSSIANS AND PHILEMON - JANUARY 8, 2017
Because of several common elements, Colossians and Philemon will be studied
together and will present the all-supremacy and fullness of the person and work of
Jesus Christ as the total solution for man’s needs both for time and eternity. Christ’s
sufficiency is shown to be an antidote to the syncretistic heresy that was taking root in
Colossae . . . a heresy that still confronts us today! This systematic verse-by-verse
study will make frequent references to other scripture and seek to provide practical
applications to our own circumstances. It is expected that the study will extend past
Easter. If needed, selected Psalms will be used to fill out the spring semester.
Taught by Mr. Harold Jones
DOCTRINE OF THE TRINITY - JANUARY 8, 2017
This class will answer three broad questions. First, is the doctrine biblical. We will look
at passages in the Old and New Testaments that confirm the doctrine. Second, does it
make sense? How can one be three or three be one? We will look at how history seeks
to answer that question. Finally, so what? What difference does it make? What does it
mean for our salvation and living the Christian life! Taught by Rev. Don Malin
COLLEGE GROUP/YOUNG ADULT - JANUARY 15, 2017
A Sunday School class for college students and young adults will be offered this
semester beginning on the 15th of January. The topic of the class will be “The Church:
Who, What, Where, Why, and How?” In a day whenever church attendance and
membership is decreasing rapidly and becoming increasingly viewed by the outside
world as an irrelevant and outdated institution, there is a need for the saints to be
continually reminded that Christ's church is not something we merely attend, but it is
an intrinsic part of our Christian experience which we cannot survive without.
Taught by Mr. Bryce Davis
