Jamie Thompson Woodwind, Brass and Percussion

Degrees and Studies: Jamie Thompson completed his studies at The Royal Conservatory of Music, University of Toronto and the Banff Centre, studying with Robert Aitken, Douglas Stewart, Louis Moyse and Marcel Moyse. Biographical Information: Mr. Thompson has been on the Flute Faculty of The Royal Conservatory of Music since 1988, and a member of the RCM Examinations College of Examiners since 1994. With a love of teaching and chamber music, he has performed as both soloist and chamber musician in Canada and the United States, and continues to be active as a freelance musician, teacher, adjudicator and clinician.

In addition to teaching and coaching, he has served as chair of The Royal Conservatory of Music, Woodwind, Brass and Percussion Department, and has served on numerous committees, including The Community School Divisional Committee, Academic Council. He has also served on the Council of Examiners for RCM Examinations. He has presented workshops for the Ontario Registered Music Teachers Association and coordinated The Royal Conservatory of Music Professional Development Lecture Series. Recently he co-chaired the Faculty Advisory Committee for new TELUS Centre for Performance and Learning. Mr. Thompson is the author of Urban Flute Project, www.urbanfluteproject.com, one of Canada's leading classical music blogs.
