The Promised Messiah & Mahdias

azrat Mirza Ghulam Ahmadas, founder of

the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community, claimed

to be the Promised Messiah and Mahdi

whose advent was awaited under different names and

titles by the adherents of various religions.

Under divine guidance, Hazrat Mirza Ghulam

Ahmadas made the revolutionary disclosure that there

was to appear only one such Reformer, whose mission

was to ultimately bring mankind into the fold of Islam.

His advent, he declared, would finally usher a golden

era of one universal religion which man had dreamt of

and yearned for. He divested Islam of fanatical beliefs

and practices by vigorously championing Islam’s true

and essential teachings. He also recognized the noble

teachings of the great religious founders and explained

how such teachings converged into the one true Islam.

H Hazrat Khalifatul Masih Vaba

azrat Mirza Masroor Ahmadaba is the head of the

worldwide Ahmadiyya Muslim Community. He is

the fifth successor and great grandson of the

Promised Messiah, Hazrat Mirza Ghulam Ahmadas. Prior to

his being elected as Khalifa, he accumulated an impressive

record of humanitarian service, including voluntarily working

in Africa as a secondary school principal for a number of

years.

The Khalifa is particularly dedicated to ensure that Islam

is properly understood as a religion of peace throughout the

world. Through his sermons, lectures, books and personal

meetings, he has continually advocated for the worship of

God Almighty, service to humanity, universal human rights, a

just society and separation of religion and state.

The Ahmadiyya Muslim Community, under the leadership of its holy founder, Hazrat Mirza Ghulam Ahmadas, held its first convention on December 27, 1891 in Qadian, India. Approxi-mately 75 people attended the event. For over a century since then, the Community has held its Annual Convention, or Jalsa Salana, in numerous countries around the world. Tens of thousands of Community members gather at these conventions at various times throughout the year. The principle aims of the Annual Convention are to facilitate greater spiritual awareness among Community members, strengthen ties, and promote peace. Hazrat Mirza Ghulam Ahmadas, emphasized the vital importance of the Annual Convention: “You must not rank this convention in the same league as other ordinary human assem-blies.”
