I I n for m at ion for paren ts & f r iends
10.02.2017
@HVL
Dear HVL Board of Regents and HVL Family,
It has been a true blessing to have served at Huron Valley for these past forty years. I have had the opportunity to watch the high school grow from a very small entity, to the prosperous educational institution it is today. I have been able to watch forty classes walk the halls of this school, receive diplomas, and become successful adults. One of the most fulf il l ing aspects has been to welcome the children of these alumni and be part of their educational growth as well.
However, I feel that it is t ime for me to retire at the close of the 2017-18 school year to allow those who have new ideas and teaching strategies to take their place and move the high school forward.
God has surely guarded the high school throughout its history and bestowed his blessings on Huron Valley in many ways. It is my prayer that he will continue the work he has done here and bless Huron Valley Lutheran High School in the future.
It has truly been an honor and a blessing to have served the Lord here at Huron Valley Lutheran High School.
2 Thessalonians 3:16 "Now may the Lord of peace himself give you peace at all t imes in every way. The Lord be with you all."
God's blessings on all of you,
Grace Mattek

Attent ion, School Parents!
This is a good time to check on your child?s progress in person at HVL. Also, if you would like instructions on accesssing your child's online grades, we can show you how at this time.
Friday, October 27, 2017 3:00-6:30
On Friday, October 27, from 3:00-6:30, parents of students in grades 9-12 have the opportunity to meet and discuss student progress with individual teachers. These conferences are optional; however, if your child is not doing as well as expected you are encouraged to meet with your child?s teacher. Conferences are handled on a f irst come, f irst served basis. The busiest t imes are 3:00-4:00 and 6:00-6:30. The consultations are limited to approximately 10 minutes per teacher. When you arrive for conferences, please give each teacher a wave to let them know you are waiting ESPECIALLY if others are also waiting. Ten minutes is not a lot of t ime to f ind out information about your child, so here are a few tips for parent-teacher conferences:
Be prepared to ask quest ions before you share what your child may have told you. Develop a short l ist of questions for your child's teachers about your child's educational needs. If it seems your conference may go past 10 minutes, set up another time to meet rather than making other parents wait. Be prepared to share. Major events can affect a student's performance and might provide a hint to the teacher, especially if there have been any unusual dif f icult ies. Let the teacher know what?s going on at home, be it the arrival of a new baby, a recent separation or the death of a grandparent. Be posit ive. A positive attitude is the most important ingredient for the success of parent-teacher conferences. A positive attitude is essential as you are part of a team that has the same goal: helping your child to reach his/her full potential in each area of study.
God bless us as we work together!

Each school year, members of our senior class participate in a Career Day Program. It is an exciting program that HVL offers to seniors to help them choose a career path. We feel this is such a blessing we give seniors extra days off school so they can plan a "job shadow" day.
WE NEED YOUR HELP!
If you would be will ing to allow one senior to come to your work place for a "job shadow," please let us know. Or maybe you have expertise in a f ield or occupation which you would like to share with our senior class during the school day. Let us know if you can help in either of these areas. Thanks!
