The ISE project involves thirty partners from fifteen European countries and promotes the adoption of
large-scale e-learning tools and resources in science education. The project means to apply the Inquiry-
Based Science Education methodology in science education, by exploiting a series of technological tools
and digital resources which are collected in an online platform.
Through the platform, teachers can access interactive simulations, educational games and use remote
laboratories by merging the use of these instruments in their current curricular activities. ISE also provides
an evaluation system, based on the PISA 2020 framework, able to evaluate the advancement of students’
ability to "problem solving", as well as the professional development of teachers involved.

Enhancing Quality of Technology-Enhanced

eQTeL is a Structural Measures project which addresses "Governance Reform” under the
theme: Introduction of Quality Assurance. This is a national priority for Jordan. The project means to
modernize and reform teaching methodologies. eQTel has been designed to improve the quality and
relevance of technology-enhanced learningin Jordan trough developing and implementing new
accreditation standards, guidelines and procedures for distance learning study programs according to EU
practices. This proposal has been supported by Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research as
well as the Higher Education Accreditation Commission. eQTeL focuses on developing a quality assurance
framework to foster technology-enhanced learning in university education in Jordan, and establishing a
sustainable capacity building program to facilitate the use of technology in education.

proven performance and reliability and well established processes as UNIQUE coupled gasification and hot

TIES, coordinated by University of Alicante, contributes to the development of international relations
management of Higher Education Institutions in the MEDA region, in particular Algeria, Tunisia, Lebanon,

expertise in institutional internationalization and twelve partners from the MEDA Region. The project
focuses on strengthening the management capacities of staff from partner universities, and means to build
efficient structures for international relations. The project includes different types of actions, including on-
site observation sessions, human resources development, drafting strategic internationalization plans for
participant institutions and establishing a formalized regional network dedicated to internationalization.
All the activities are designed to be complementary and drive the participants towards an innovative and

direct experience of virtual world education but who have a specific interest in education, media and

of school students’ performance in mathematics show that students in many European countries do not
perform satisfactorily. TALETE addresses mathematics education in some of the underperforming
European countries. The project aims at improving the quality and efficiency of education and training as
follows: identifying and developing teaching and learning methods in the field of mathematics with a focus
on geometry; improving the quality of learning in order to support the development of students’ basic and
transversal competences; improving the attractiveness and efficiency of education through 3D virtual

The EU TUNE project, promoted by Marconi University, aims at creating a community of secondary schools
students from EU Member States, candidate and potential candidate partner countries composing the
Adriatic Ionian Euroregion: Albania, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Croatia and Montenegro. The proposal focuses
on the Adriatic region in order to strengthen the relationships among neighbor States and to increase the
mutual awareness of next generation through the promotion of a digital language and a web-based
communication system.
The project aims at making young students talk about their everyday life, the cultural and natural heritage
of their country, hopes and expectations issuing from the forthcoming European enlargement,
preconceptions and stereotypes related to their country and how to face them.
The aim of the project is to make young people "talk" through the digital storytelling language, in order to
prevent the growing up of preconceptions and stereotypes or to delete the existing ones.

develop teachers’ skills and practice through the inclusion of ICT tools and digital storytelling techniques in
classroom, specifically, to produce book trailers as a means of promoting engagement with reading and
writing. READ IT addresses secondary schools teachers and students from the five partner countries: Italy,

STRATEGICOM, coordinated by Marconi University, responds to Algeria’s priorities of University
Management, Services for Students and Development of International Relations defined by the TEMPUS
Programme. To keep pace with the continual global changes facing higher education and in order to
respond more effectively to external collaboration requests, Algerian universities should be equipped with
a system that allows them to take decisive action, effectively and efficiently.
The project calls for the formulation of a communications strategy based on an analysis of best practices in
communications throughout European Universities and the training of relevant university personnel
implicated.It culminates in a Recommendation Paper to be presented to the Ministry of Higher Education
for its approval. Through the participation and endorsement of the Ministry of Higher Education, the
Recommendation Paper becomes a tool for the reform of the Algerian higher education structure.

represents significant geographical differences that result in variable Learning Outcomes. ImpAQ
recognizes the importance of researching different national qualifications in order to contribute to the
comparative analysis at national and European level. The project’s target group is composed by: National
Coordination Points for the EQF; institutional bodies; schools; vocational training agencies; higher
education institutions, farmer associations guilds.
The main project results and products comprise: a Sample Qualifications Inventory concerning the
Agricultural sector; a range of issues and scenarios of possible solutions to develop comparability of
Qualifications in Agriculture.

street art forms as opposed to vandalism. The project encourages wider arts participation, creative

negotiation and collaboration, team work, leadership, commitment, research and development in
communication, as well as IT skills.
In details the ST.ART educational model combines three education areas made up of three main learning
sessions: e-course, art works performed in a 3D virtual space and a social area. ST.ART project aims to
provide an innovative learning platform for contemporary art to young students of secondary schools and
encourages creative teaching and learning through a new integrated methodology that combines Web 2.0

Teaching Tutoring - Intelligent Agents to customize

The T2 project aims at improving the quality of training in the microfinance sector by providing a learning
model based on Artificial Intelligence technology and blended learning. This allows professionals from
microfinance institutions to customise their training path according to their learning needs. The T2
Programs on Sustainable Microfinance will be offered in Poland, France and Italy and delivered in three
sessions: on-line course, on-site workshops and web-based project works. The T2 platform encompasses
an e-course and a Virtual Tutor, an intelligent agent system able to generate personal assessment
pathways for learners. This evaluation tool helps teachers customize face-to-face sessions based on
learners’ specific needs. The Virtual Tutor acts as a realistic teacher, personalizing a sequence of
assessment questions and giving appropriate feedback based on each trainee’s response.

The VA2EL project is aimed at local councilors serving or having served in local authorities of the six

mandate with a full-time job. The VA2EL project aims at proposing a specific support for the local
councilors, the E-Portfolio, aimed at identifying and valorizing the competences and skills acquired during
their mandate. The use of such a tool leads to a self-exploration process allowing the local councilors to
find out which skills and competences they have gained, also focusing on their training needs and future
professional objectives.

The E-NEEDD Project guides participating institutions (seven universities, one NGO, one Trade Union and

The project intends to carry out the following activities: comparative study of preventive interventions
developed in the participating countries (Spain, Portugal, Italy, Romania and Turkey) and identification of
appropriate best practices; development of an early detection scale of drug use for teenagers; design and
evaluation of a training program on prevention and counseling in drug abuse aimed at secondary school

EDUNATHER is a pilot project coordinated by GeoCultural Park of Eastern Aegean, which introduces web-
based GIS technologies to educational processes. EDUNATHER provides complete and practically feasible
solutions with regard to innovative training programs based on the use of web-GIS (Geographic
Information System) technologies. The scope of the project is to develop an on-line spatial database with
multidisciplinary data. The on line spatial database acts as information rendering and data exchanging
providing rich multimedia experiences for e-learning purposes. The end users of the system are teachers
and students at all educational levels, individual researchers and educational institutes. A series of e-
courses based on GIS tools on the topics of geology, geomorphology, and agriculture are developed and
available on line. The courses are designed either to act as a supplementary tool for traditional classes or
to act as autonomous courses for open learning.

methodology based on Intelligent Agents, PARMENIDE experiments two pilot applications for
transportation sector workers.
In such applications, the virtual pedagogical characters use Artificial Intelligence methods to carry out
complex tasks and enhance a pragmatic approach to solve problems. In addition, the virtual agent
evaluates trainees’ performances and adapt the learning method to their specific needs.

The Tivolinabilarte project, coordinated by the Municipality of Tivoli, creates a well-structured path of
cultural activities which, through a broad range of art expressions, by engaging youth mainly aged 15 – 25
years. The project fosters the involvement of disabled and immigrant youth. The project’s goal is to
encourage socialization and sharing of experiences, through a variety of expressive forms. Tivolinabilarte
provides the organization of workshops in cooperation with schools, associations, artisans and artists.

The I@A Project, coordinated by the Unione dei Comuni della Grecia salentina, contributes to strengthen
the relationship between Apulian and Albanian communities and between the local authorities of the two
areas. It also supports the access of young people in the job market.
The project develops an interactive portal about culture and tourism which originates from partners’
common intention to cooperate and use new information and communication technologies to promote
tourism and natural heritage of Apulia and Albania cross-borders territories (in particular the provinces of
Bari, Brindisi and Lecce for Apulia, and the areas of Durazzo, Skutari, Valona and Tirana for Albania).

The project INSF, about the integration of foreign people in Ferrara, is funded by the Ministry of Interior
and promotes social integration of immigrants. It indirectly encourages the socio-economic growth and
the raising of employability levels, by training immigrants towards rules governing social life in Italy and
Italian speaking skills. INSF develops several training programs for adults and young people. The courses,
focused on Italian language, civic education and career guidance, are organized both in presence and at
distance.

“LABORATORIO DI BIOINFORMATICA PER LA

Guglielmo Marconi University, in partnership with IBM Italia Spa and other Higher Education institutions,
performs the project "Laboratory of bioinformatics for molecular biodiversity " , funded by the Italian
Ministry of Education, University and Research .
The training component of the project, connected to the research phase, aims at training twenty industrial
researchers with specific expertise in the field of Bioinformatics. In particular, the project focuses on the
design and implementation of biological databases, the training on bioinformatics techniques for
molecular analysis and the study of molecular biodiversity through specific tools. The project contributes
to train industrial researchers with the necessary scientific skills to independently manage and evaluate
relevant industrial research projects.

The Marconi University and Cesform realize the project on micrfinance and microcredit “La finanza etica:
nuove forme di economia sociale” . The project aims at spreading knowledge about new forms of financial
economy and ethic finance in practical terms (e.g. procedures to access the microcredit). The project
consists of the integration of two actions: one training session on " Skills acquisition in micro-credit and
business creation" (delivered through lectures and e-learning lessons) and one laboratory of ideas
(delivered through specific seminars) The goal is to encourage micro - local business experiences able to
trigger positive chain reactions, effectively improving the living conditions of the communities and creating
real opportunities for self-employment.

course for Experts in Travel and Tourism. The course intends to train professionals able to valorize the
local historical and cultural heritage to promote the production and marketing of touristic goods and
services. Course participants learn how to create a marketing plan to effectively manage a diversified
market demand. The training course also comprises a set of traineeship sessions.

23.05.2008).
The 250-hour training program consists of traditional lessons, traineeship activities and online modules.
The course covers the impact of globalization and information technologies on society, the relation
between schools, new technologies and hypermedia with the aim to advance innovative and effective
teaching methods.

The Marconi University, in cooperation with Assotravel and Auchan - Gruppo Rinascente, participates in
the project “GioberTInforma”, coordinated by Vincenzo Gioberti Secondary School in Rome. The project is
funded by Latium Region in the framework of Regional Operating Programme, Measure C1. The project
envisages the creation of a network of operators at a local level, able to participate in research activities
and define some best practices to establish an observatory for students’ training needs. Through pilot
internship experiences, the observatory means to identify new learning models to advance education and
training programs.

The Marconi University runs the project ProgettoOrient@ aimed at promoting educational and vocational
guidance initiatives. The project envisages the establishment of a network of high schools for defining,
sharing and implementing a series of " best practices " relating to guidance and dissemination of e-learning
methodologies to ensure a regular relationship between teachers and students. The project intends to
realize a "Guidance network for students” trough the creation of an "online tutor”, able to manage the
activities of the virtual laboratory for Experiential Guidance through e-learning.
