Doc 9625 Myths
What Doc 9625 IS:
• Its The most current technical standard to support FSTD qualification• Includes requirements to address safety concerns
• Includes requirements to support use of current and future technologies
• Provides a basis for the mutual recognition of FSTD qualifications by ICAO states
• Helps provide access to training where devices are not available
• Increases value to the operator of the device
Doc 9625 Myths
What Doc 9625 IS NOT:
• Its not intended to replace the CAA regulation
• Its not intended for the body of the regulation, i.e. the normal operating requirements of the FSTD operations including the QMS.
Meeting Stakeholders Needs• FSTD Credits FSTD Technical Standards; cannot be delineated!
• Must have well defined FSTD technical standards• Based on what is trained
• Based on what industry is actually using/building
• Must have an Equitable system of device credits
• For optimum use of all device types/levels
• Generous & Based on Capability (not Hours)
• Must cater for qualified & non-qualified devices

Ultimate Goal: Single global standardFor FSTD Qualification
For FSTD Use in approved training
• Alignment of Global FSTD Standards => ICAO Doc. 9625 as the basis• Revise to meet todays training needs• Revise to modernize and futureproof• Ensure legacy devices protected through grandfathering• Technical Experts workgroups to support work
• Equitable system of Training Credits based on Device Fidelity• Training Capability Matrix – NGRS Matrix
• Updates of Edition 4• To include most current report from the SATCE Working Group
• ARINC Report 439: Guidance for Simulated Air Traffic Control Environments in Flight Simulation
• Annex I - correcting disparity on Type definitions• Alignment with FAA Part 60:
• Bounced Landing, Gusting X-Wind & Weight/CG for T/O and Landing
• Developed a process for stakeholders to submit requests for changes to Doc 9625
