2. Ankara is the capital of Trkiye, located in the middle of
Anatolia.
3. Ankara is the second crowded city in Turkey due to many
advantages brought by being the capital. There are good schools,
hospitals, work opportunities, government buildings, commercial and
industrial sites, etc.
4. Ankara has an old history which can be traced back to Bronze
Age. First civilization was Hatti and Hitites. Most important
rulers of this region was Romans, Seljuks and Ottomans. An Roman

5. Ankara became the capital city of Turkey in 1923. In October
13,1923, The Grand National Assembly Of Turkey (Turkish: TBMM,
Trkiye Byk Millet Meclisi) declared Ankara as the capital city of
the Turkish Republic.
6. The Grand National Assembly of Turkey (TBMM) was founded in
Ankara on 23 April 1920.
7. Ankara has got many cultural, and historical places. There
are many parks, shopping malls and sightseeing's. Lets see some of

8. Ankara Ethnography Museum In this museum, there is a fine
collection of folkloric as well as Seljuk- and Ottoman-era
artifacts.
9. Museum of Anatolian Civilizations Situated at the entrance
of Ankara Castle, it is an old "bedesten" (covered bazaar) that has
been beautifully restored and now houses a unique collection of
Paleolithic, Neolithic, Hatti, Hittite, Phrygian, Urartian, and
Roman works as well as a major section dedicated to Lydian
treasures.
10. State Art and Sculpture Museum This museum is close to the
Ethnography Museum and houses a rich collection of Turkish art from
the late 19th century to the present day. There are also galleries
which host guest exhibitions.
11. War of Independence Museum This building, located on Ulus
Square, was originally the first Parliament building (TBMM) of the
Republic of Turkey. The War of Independence was planned and
directed here as recorded in various photographs and items
presently on exhibition. In another display, wax figures of former
presidents of the Republic of Turkey are on exhibit.
12. Also there are important mosques in Ankara .One of them is
Hac Bayram Mosque.It is located in Ulus. Near the Mosque ,there is
the temple of Augustus.
13. The founder of Trkiye is Mustafa Kemal Atatrk. Atatrks
mausoleum (ANITKABR) is located in Ankara.
14. Many exhibitions are organized at the Atatrk Cultural
Center.
15. Arts and cultural activities are important for Ankara.
Presidential Symphony Orchestra and state and private theatres,
cinemas are also located in Ankara. Opera, modern dance and ballet
are also important for Ankara.
16. There are many parks in Ankara. Genlik Park is the most
famous one. Also Kuulu Park, Altn Park, Gven Park, Botanical Park

20. Ankara has continental climate, with cold and snowy winters
and hot, dry summers. If you come here in winter you need warm
clothes!
21. Ankara is famous for its Angora cat and Angora goat. Ankara
cat is mostly white and its eyes can be different colors. Ankara
goat is very also white and its fur is valuable.
