Monthly Meeting-July 2012
The July heat is here! I know that I’m wishing for the
June gloom morning fog to return.
Our June meeting was really special. We had 41 mem-
bers, scholarship recipients and their families and
other guests attend our meeting. It is the largest meet-
ing that we have had in a very long time. It was a great
meeting where we honored our scholarship recipients
and Cheryl O’Connor our Business Associate of the
Year. We all enjoyed our speaker (Nathan Gonzales of
the A.K. Smiley Library in Redlands) who gave a lively
and entertaining program on Redlands.
We also held an election for new officers for next year.
Those elected were: Connie Young, President; Susie
Jarvis, Vice President; Faith Carter-Michaelson, Secre-
tary; and Sylvia Dennis, Treasurer. We still need help
with committees throughout the year so please volun-
teer as it is a rewarding experience and a good way to
improve your skills.
We will again have the 120 tickets available for pur-
chase at the meeting. We will begin the drawings in
October. They are $10 each so if you have special
numbers you want, you need to hurry and get them
from Judi before someone else does. Also, we still
have a supply of Marie Callendar scrip cards available
for sale that will be available at the meeting.
Our speaker this month will be Mary Fruciano, owner
of Bella Visage in Redlands. We will also be presenting
our perfect attendance certificates for the past year.
We will hold our new officer installation in September
since two of the four officers will be gone in July.
We had our meeting in the private room at the Old Spa-
ghetti Factory in Redlands this last month. It was
much better and quieter. We have also talked to the
restaurant about getting the Senior menu which is still
a complete meal but slightly smaller portions. We will
try the new menu this month and see how if it suits our
needs. We will meet again in the private room and
then remember that we are dark in August. This allows
everyone to take a break and I know many of you are
going on vacation.
I hope to see you at the July 24th
meeting. Have a good summer
and we will resume again in Sep-
tember.
Connie Young
Please RSVP no later than the
SUNDAY prior to the meeting.
At each General Meeting you may make
your reservation for next month.
There are no ‘standing reservations.’
If you do not make a reservation, you
will not be guaranteed a meal.
A reservation made, is a reservation
paid!
