SIDERCAD has been an Italian Engineeringand Information Technology Company active in theinternational market since 1986.
The name SIDERCAD, which comes from thecombination of “sider” (steel) and “cad” (computer-aided Design) refers to the initial mission of thecompany, established as a part of the Ilva group, toencourage the use of steel by developing automaticdesign techniques, in order to ensure reliability andspeed of design. The initial experience in the designof steel structures grew over the time and gave rise tothe private company SIDERCAD S.p.A. with a multi-disciplinary Engineering Division and to anindependent Information Technology Division.
SIDERCAD S.p.A. actually consists of two separate but synergic structures: ENGINEERINGand INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY.
The global market requires increasingly shorter production times, with constantly increasingquality standards. This process of management is based on high-level IT tools, dealing withspecialized aspects and coordination systems.
Since the beginning, SIDERCAD S.p.A. has been operating with the aim of maximizingreliability by the continuous improvement of work organization and the systematic applicationof efficient procedures, e.g. BIM techniques, combined to reduce time and costs.
Over the years, therefore, a “SIDERCAD method” has been established to reach utmostreliability in rapid timeframes and low costs.
The Company operational structure is organized through theintersection matrix of the following functions:
− Area Manager
− Project managers
− Control functions personnel
− Operating staff
In detail:
Area Managers in ENGINEERING and INFORMATION TECHNOLOGYfields perform the duties of:
• overall coordination
• coordination of service
• allocation of human and material resources
• quality control of individual activities
• management of internal information system
Project managers
They manage and carry out orders, using operationalstaff (designers, analysts and system analysts); two-thirdare engineers and one-third graduated.
Control functions personnel
They use “CIS” computer program developed in house to check theprogress of orders and cost accounting.
