MeganMegan struggled to gain independence and confidence as she dealt with issues from scoliosis and muscular dystrophy, both brought on by her diagnosis of Friedreich’s ataxia. With help from case managers in Gulfstream Goodwill’s Supported Employment Program, Megan was hired at the organization’s Gulfstream Superstore as a cashier. According to Megan, “It’s just hard to put into words how great it feels to be able to be independent … and pay your own bills.” With Goodwill, she found a chance to transform her life.
JOBS
WORKING TOGETHER TO END
HOMELESSNESS
As the largest provider of homeless services in Palm Beach County, Gulfstream Goodwill Industries has been working continuously for 18 years to end homelessness in our community, with the assistance of Palm Beach County Division of Human Services and the United States Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD).
The agency added 15 units to its portfolio of residential housing with the opening of “Home at J Street” in downtown Lake Worth in November 2015, bringing the total number of apartments for the homeless to 133 by the year’s end. Community Foundation for Palm Beach and Martin Counties, GL Homes, Holiday Inn West Palm Beach and Serta each donated funds or furnishings to the project.

RandyUpon his release, Randy joined Gulfstream Goodwill Industries’ Adult Offender Re-Entry Program. After just one month, Randy obtained employment and was able to rent an apartment with his wife. According to his supervisor, he is in line for a promotion. Gulfstream Goodwill helps break down barriers created by an individual’s past with tools and guidance to create a pathway for a new future.
Education &
TRAINING
JordanAfter graduating high school, Jordan enrolled in Gulfstream Goodwill’s charter school. In 2015, Jordan accepted a position with ALL-TAG Security Americas, Inc. Since he began his career, Jordan has helped train new staff members and is considered by his supervisors to be one of the company’s top performing employees. Jordan’s success is a result of the support he receives from his family, his vocational training at the Transition to Life Academy charter school and the work ethic by which he lives.
