A WORLD OF INSIGHTS
S1: In which of the following ways are you involved in the purchase process for private and/or hybrid cloud solutions at your organization? Base: 60 qualified respondents
In this survey we refer to the following definitions of private and hybrid cloud.
Private Cloud – Infrastructure provisioned solely for a single organization. For the purposes of this survey we are focusing on private clouds that are hosted and managed internally versus by a third party.
Hybrid Cloud – A composition of private and public clouds which remain unique entities but are bound together, offering the benefits of multiple deployment models.

A WORLD OF INSIGHTS
• Almost one quarter of respondents have completed the application planning and cloud strategy stages when it comes to private cloud deployments. • Hybrid cloud lags behind private cloud only slightly at each stage.
• All challenges prompting cloud plans are weighted equally with inflexible legacy architectures leading by only a small margin (35%).
• Data silos, inefficient manual processes, and the perception that IT cannot handle in-house are all pushing companies toward cloud plans.
• Ensuring the security of the cloud environment is the most important step when implementing a private or hybrid cloud with 9 out of 10 respondents reporting it is critical/very important.
• Modular platform building blocks that can integrate with multiple vendors is the cloud deployment approach that most organizations feel would be the best fit (versus integrated solutions from a single vendor).
• The top three most important factors when evaluating/selecting cloud technology are the same across private and hybrid cloud: disaster recovery and security capabilities and cost transparency.
• Increased IT efficiencies is the top benefit organizations hope to achieve with both private and hybrid cloud deployments. Organizations also hope for reliability/security and lowering TCO with optimized application delivery.
