ICD-10-CM Coding for Home Health-Intermediate Level with 2020 Updates
Speaker: Teresa Northcutt, RN, BSN, COS-C, HCS-D, HCS-H Wednesday & Thursday, October 2 & 3, 2019(Nursing CEUs- 13.0, BMSC CEUs- 13.0)
The changes coming to home health in 2020 will impact payment, compliance, coding and clinical operations. Lack of training will lead to denials, up/down-coding, and potentially decreased cash flow – don’t get caught unprepared!
Increase your knowledge and gain the expertise your agency needs to survive with this comprehensive two-day intermediate coding course specific for home care coders. Increase your understanding of the regulatory aspects and ethics of diagnosis coding and utilize lots of examples to increase your skills, proficiency and accuracy in choosing appropriate ICD-10-CM codes. We will apply PDGM payment reform to scenarios so that home health participants will understand payment implications and compliance issues.
This two-day training is tailored for the coder with home health coding and a basic understanding of the ICD-10-CM Coding Conventions and Guidelines (1-2 years of experience). This training will be an effective review for those preparing for the HCS-D certification exam and meets the CEU requirements for those recertifying their HCS-D credentials.
NOTE: It is NOT recommended that those without prior experience or familiarity with ICD-10 sit for the HCS-D/HCS-H exam without further practice.
Each attendee must bring a current 2020 ICD-10-CM Coding Manual to effectively participate in the class.
About our instructor: Teresa has provided educational programs on OASIS assessment, ICD-9 and ICD-10 coding, agency communications and processes, documentation, quality outcome improvement, and care transitions for regional and state conferences. With 35+ years of experience as Clinical Services and QI/Education manager with home health agencies (independent, hospital-based, and county health dept.), a hospital patient educator and quality improvement facilitator, and a program manager with Primaris, the Missouri QIO, Teresa brings comprehensive and contemporary knowledge of home care and quality improvement methods. Teresa joined Selman-Holman and Associates in 2011.
