Today, you’ll be learning about a modern crisis of human rights violation that impacts children and young adults in today’s world – the crisis of human trafficking.

Take a few moments to jot down a personal definition of human trafficking – It’s okay to respond with ‘I’m not sure’ or ‘I don’t know.’

In basic terms, human trafficking is modern-day slavery. It is documented to exist in over 190 countries and in each-and-every state in America.

There are three main ways an individual can be exploited, meaning ‘to make use of a person or thing meanly and unfairly, for one’s own advantage.’

Remember – If a person is being exploited, his/her basic human rights are being jeopardized or violated.
