How to Create Bar and Line Graphs Scientific Method
Slide 2
The Scientific Method The scientific method involves a series
of steps that the are used to investigate a natural occurrence. The
Steps Include Problem/Question Research/Observe Form Hypothesis
Experiment Analyze Results Conclusion
Slide 3
Ask a Question or I.D a Problem Example: Energy Drinks and
sleep deprivation have a direct correlation with each other
Slide 4
Research/Observe Research/Observe: Research the topic at hand
and take notes. Example: We fine that certain energy drinks contain
caffeine, vitamins, and stimulants that prevent sleeping hormones
in the brain to take effect
Slide 5
Form Hypothesis Hypothesis: A proposed explanation to the
question. Example: Students who consume a larger quantity of energy
drinks will sleep less during the night.
Slide 6
Experiment Experiment: Develop procedure. Outcome must be
MEASURABLE. Example: Divide class in thirds. Have one group receive
no drinks, one group receive 2 drinks per day and one group receive
4 drinks per day. Record group average sleep.
Slide 7
Analyze results Go over results of experiment Example: Energy
drinks have a direct relationship with hrs slept per night
Slide 8
Conclusion Report on what the experiment told us. Example:
Those who receive more energy drink supplements will sleep less per
night
Slide 9
Variables All experiments within the scientific method have
variables. Independent variable: Manipulated or changed by the
experimenter. Ex. Energy drink amount Dependent Variable: The
outcome from the experiment that is measured. Ex. Hours of
sleep
