HOW TO APPLY TO THE UNIVERSITY OF CALGARY
IFP BRIDGING PLUS DEGREE ROUTE
The following are step-by-step instructions on how to apply to the University of Calgary for the first time. If you already have a University of Calgary username and password, skip to step 8. If you have any questions or problems with the application, please contact the International Foundations Program by email: [email protected] or by telephone at +1-403-220-3277. If you start an application, you can always save your progress and come back to it later by signing back on to your UCalgary account.
*Note: There are 2 sections to this guide – How to Apply to the IFP Bridging Conditional Admission Route (pages 1-43); and How to Check Your Application Status, Accept Your Offer, and Pay Your Deposit (pages 44-68).

3. Click on Undergraduate Then click on How to apply

4. Scroll down to: Apply online Click on either: Studied in Canada (you will use the applyalberta web site) or Studied outside of Canada (you will apply directly to the University
of Calgary) – the following instructions show this route. Then click on I’m ready to apply

5. Click on Create an eID

6. An eID will be your user name when you sign into your University of Calgary account. 1. When creating your eID, it should be your firstname.lastname (i.e.
mary.smith). If this does not work, use a ‘2’ after your first name (i.e. mary2.smith).
2. You won’t have a UCID number yet so click on I don’t have a UCID
and wish to register a guest account.
3. Fill in your Last Name, Birth date and email address.

1. Create a password for your UCalgary account. 2. Create Recovery Questions and Answers for your Password. 3. When finished, click on Continue

7. Your account registration will be confirmed. Click on the here to sign onto your new University of Calgary account.

8. Sign into your new myUofC account using the eID (username) that you created (your firstname.lastname) and your password.

8 a. To log on to your University of Calgary account in the future, go to the University of Calgary’s home page (www.ucalgary.ca), then click on the down arrow and select My UCalgary.

9. To create a New Application click on Create a New Application
9a. If you have already started an application and would like to edit it, click on Edit and skip to Step 11.

10. Click Yes if you are or were an international student studying outside Canada
or No if you are not an international student who is or was
studying outside Canada Click on Create

11. Read through the information. Click on the box beside I have read this page Click on Save & Continue

12. Fill in your information. You do not have to fill in the Alberta Student Number or Social Insurance Number if you do not have one. Leave blank.

13. Answer the following questions. Click on Save & Continue

14. Fill in your current mailing address.
Click on Same as above if your permanent address is the same as your mailing address Click on Save & Continue

15. Fill in your email address and phone number then click on Save & Continue

16. Fill in your Citizenship and Immigration information and status then Click on Save & Continue **Note: you can still apply if you do not yet have a Student Permit
select Other and type “will apply”.

17. Select when you want to start studying (for example Fall 2018). *Note: Almost all degree programs at the University of Calgary begin in the Fall term so that will most likely be the term you should choose. **Note: Make sure you select the correct term for your desired program as the application fee is non-refundable. Click on Save & Continue

18. Answer High School questions and add in information about your High School. Add all High Schools you have attended.

19. The system will confirm your answers. Edit if needed and click on Save & Continue

20. Fill in the school where you have or will have received the highest level of education and what that level is/will be.
Click on Save & Continue

21. Add in the name of any Post-Secondary schools you have attended. Click on Save & Continue

22. Select your First Choice for what you want to study. A list of program’s by faculty will appear. Pick the program you wish to apply for. Then click Save & Continue

23. Your First Choice selection will appear.
1. Click on Admission Requirements which will open in a new tab. 2. Read the requirements in the new tab. 3. Click on Student Admission tab to return to your application. 4. Click on the box indicating you have read, understood and will
complete the admission requirements to be formally admitted. 5. Click on Add this Program 6. Click on Save & Continue

24. If you wish to select a second program to be considered for, click on Yes and select a second program. Choosing a second program is recommended. The steps to choose a second program are similar to the previous steps 22 and 23.
If you do not wish to select a second program, click on No.

25. Click on the box indicating that you understand the English Language Proficiency requirements must be met before admission. **Important: Click on the box indicating you want to be considered for International Foundations Program for Pathways or Bridging. If you do not do so your application will be delayed. Click on Save & Continue

26. Review your application status to ensure all sections are complete. If any sections indicate Incomplete, use the Go Back button to fill in the missing information. Once all sections say Complete, click on Continue

27. Review your application information.
If any sections are incorrect, use the Go Back button to correct the information. If all sections are correct, click on Continue

28. Review the Application Declaration and Payment.
Click on the box indicating you have read it.

29. The total amount owing for the non-refundable application fee in Canadian dollars will be indicated. Select the option indicating how you are going to pay. IFP recommends paying by credit card or international funds transfer.

30. Payment options: *Note: You should pay your application fee as soon as possible. Your application will not begin to be processed until the fee is paid.
• If you choose to pay by credit card, a screen will appear asking for
your credit card information. Fill in your credit card information to pay.
• If you choose to pay by online banking, international funds transfer, cheque, money order, bank draft, or wire transfer, a screen will appear asking for you to check a box indicating you understand your application will not be processed until the fee is received by the deadline date (see screen shot below). Check the box. Then click on Submit

31. Review the information on finalizing your application. Note the deadlines indicated when transcripts are due.

32. You have finished creating your application. Click on Logout

33. Scan and email unofficial transcripts as an attachment for initial evaluation purposes to: [email protected] .
If admitted you must arrange for your school to send official transcripts directly to the to the University of Calgary admissions office.

**Important: Documents which are in a language other than English must be submitted in the original language as well as with English translations prepared by a certified translator. Documents must indicate the courses studied and the grades obtained in each course. For current application and document deadline dates go to Future Students - Documents

34. The email address you provided will be used to communicate with you. You will receive the following by email:
• a confirmation of receipt of your application
• your University of Calgary ID number
• reminders of important dates

35. You will need to link your UCID number that you received in your email
to your eID (username) in order to log in to the My UofC to view your application status.
Sign into your new myUofC account using the username that you
created (your firstname.lastname) and your password.

36. Click on go to account dashboard, and select “Link another UCID I have”

40. An email will be sent to you. Click on the email link for confirmation.
You will be directed to another confirmation page verifying the link.
Click on Yes, link UCID
You may now log in to your account.

HOW TO
CHECK YOUR APPLICATION STATUS, ACCEPT YOUR OFFER OF ADMISSION, AND PAY YOUR DEPOSIT
To check the status of your application, find out if you have been offered admission to the University of Calgary, accept your admission offer, and pay your deposit.

4. Sign in using the University of Calgary username and password you created to submit your application.

6. Scroll down to your Student Centre - Admissions.

6a. Your Status may show one of the following symbols:
See Status – this means a decision is still being made or there may be something further for you to do.
Complete – your application is complete. A decision is pending.
✔ Admitted – your application has been approved. You can accept or decline the offer of admittance.
Cancelled – your application has been cancelled either by you or because you have not been accepted for admittance.
✔ Tentative Admission – your application is being considered however there is something missing that you need to submit.

6b. For more information on the status of your application, click on Status

7. If you have been offered admission to a program you will have a ✔ with Accept or Decline Click on Accept/Decline.

8. After reviewing your offer details, click on the link to Accept/Decline.

9. Click on I ACCEPT ADMISSION

10. Click on CONFIRM ACCEPTANCE

11. Once you have confirmed your offer of admission, the Accept/Decline link will disappear.

HOW TO PAY YOUR DEPOSIT
If you have been offered admission to the University of Calgary, you will be required to pay a $500 CAD non-refundable deposit to confirm your admission offer. This deposit will be applied to your fees for your first semester.

2. A summary window opens which indicates when your deposit is due and the amount.

3. To pay your deposit:
a. Online banking is the preferred method of payment if you have a Canadian bank account
b. International Funds Transfer is the most efficient
payment process if you do not have a Canadian bank account

8. When your deposit is successfully paid, your application status will indicate Deposit Paid on your Student Centre account.
