CONCESSION TICKET CONDITIONS Students must have an approved student identification card and attend an approved educational institution/s for concessional entry. Pensioner must hold a current valid Pensioner Concession Card or Queensland Repatriation Health Gold Card issued by Centrelink or the Department of Veteran Affairs. The Centrelink Health Care Card is NOT ACCEPTABLE for concessional entry. Seniors must hold a Seniors Card (from any State) to be eligible for concession entry. GENERAL CONDITIONS OF ENTRY AND COMPETITION

This Show is conducted subject to the rules of the Queensland Chamber of Agricultural Societies, the constitution and rules of this Society and any regulation which appears within the Schedule for individual sections of this Show. Should there be any conflict between the rules of the Queensland Chamber of Agricultural Societies, the constitution and rules of this society and the regulations appearing in any schedule, the constitution, rules and regulations appearing in the schedule of this Society shall prevail. All persons upon entering any class in this Schedule agree to indemnify the CAIRNS AGRICULTURAL PASTORAL AND MINING ASSOCIATION against liability for any accident, damage, loss or illness to any Exhibit, Exhibitor or Competitor and agree that all Competitions are under the complete and total control of the CAIRNS AGRICULTURAL PASTORAL AND MINING ASSOCIATION whose decision in all matters is final.

THE CAIRNS AGRICULTURAL PASTORAL AND MINING ASSOCIATION:

a. Will appoint a Chief Steward to each section as its representative in all matters. Failure to comply with lawful directions from appointed Stewards, Committee or Staff or use of verbal or physical abuse will result in Disciplinary Action which may include exclusion from further Competitions and/or the Cairns Show Grounds.

b. Will appoint Judges whose decisions are final and for which no verbal or written Communication will be accepted or entered into.

c. Reserves the right to make any decisions, inclusions or changes to this Schedule including Conditions of Entry as it may deem fitting without further notice.

d. By way of entering for this Competition exhibitors acknowledge that they are compliant with these Conditions.

A Judge shall not have any information prior to or during judging at The Cairns Show other than what is provided by the Cairns Agricultural Pastoral and Mining Association. Vice Presidents cannot compete in sections under their control.

ANIMAL/S AND BIRD/S EXHIBITORS

• All animal/s and bird/s exhibitors must sign an Exhibit Health Declaration upon delivery of entry

and must comply with the health requirements detailed in this document. • Exhibit Health Declarations are available from the Show Office or Website www.cairnsshow.com.au • All Veterinarian fees are the responsibility of the Owner of the animal. Cairns Show will not take

responsibility for any veterinarian fees.

PLEASE NOTE CONDITIONS OF ENTRY INTO GROUNDS

• No glass is to be brought onto the Grounds. • All electrical leads must be tagged in accordance with the relevant industrial regulations. • All dogs must be leashed.

PRIZE MONEY

Prize Money stated in the Schedule excludes GST. GST will be added to the Prize Money for Exhibitors who are registered for GST purposes. The Association will provide a “Recipient Created Tax Invoice” to Exhibitors who are registered for GST purposes.

PRIVACY STATEMENT

The information provided by you in any application for membership or application to enter is used by the Cairns Show Association (CSA) to offer member services or to organise and conduct competitions at the Cairns Show. By applying for membership or entering our competitions you consent to provide such details as your name, address and exhibit details. SPECIAL REGULATIONS

1. Changes to the schedule and commencement times may be carried out at the discretion of the Chief Steward. Entrants will be pre-advised of any changes.

2. One entry fee of $20 covers entry to all climbing events. 3. Entrants must complete and sign the Official entry form prior to the event 4. Entries will not be accepted by phone. 5. Post or Fax entry forms to Cairns Show Association PO Box 811 Bungalow Qld 4870 Fax: 4031 3671 6. Any entrants who are previous Cairns Show Novice Pole Climbing Champions must only compete in

the Open Australian Poleclimbing Championships. 7. Entrants will climb under the Australian Show Pole Climbers Rules of Competition available from the

Chief Steward. 8. On payments of entry fees, gate tickets for the events will be posted direct to all entrants. 9. Only competitors are allowed in Centre Ring. 10. ONLY AUTHORISED VEHICLES ARE ALLOWED IN CENTRE RING 11. The Chief Steward upon discretion may move competitors to more relevant heats if required. 12. Please read all requirements and condition of entry. The Australian Show Pole Climbing Championships held at the Cairns Show is a competition to establish who can climb approx. 24.5m (80 Feet) up a free standing wooden pole with appropriate climbing aids in the fastest times.

CONDITIONS OF ENTRY

ELIGIBILITY

All entrants must: • Be of fit and healthy disposition and be capable of the extreme physical exertion required by the event. • Have their own personal climbing equipment. • Be sufficiently experienced in tree climbing techniques to competently use climbing equipment. • Complete and sign the official entry forms before participating. • Notify the organisers in advance of any special health conditions, such as epilepsy, diabetes etc.

SAFETY Equipment: All entrants must bring the following climbing equipment • Climbing harness, which must have a waist belt, 2 leg straps and a proper point of attachment for a

safety line. • Pole strap of a sufficient length to encircle the pole and be safely attached to both sides of the

harness with a minimum of twin locking snaps. • Set of climbing spikes. • Working boots and gloves. • All equipment will be inspected before the event to ensure that it is safe and appropriate for the

situation. Safety ropes and all fixings to the pole will be provided. The Chief Judge will check each entrant on the following points prior to allowing a climb to proceed • The climbing equipment is correctly fitted, secured and adjusted. • The pole strap is around the pole and secured to the harness at both ends. • The safety line is running free through the top of the pole and secured to the correct coupling on the

climbers harness. • The person belaying the climber understands the task and is ready. • The climber is ready and outwardly capable of completing the climb. Once the Chief Judge is satisfied that these requirements have been met, he will allow the starter to start the climb. When the climb is completed, the climber should rest until sufficiently recovered to climb down the pole with the belayer controlling the descent. If the climber is incapacitated for any reason, then the belayer will take his full weight and control his descent. A spare rope and set of equipment will be available at all times in case there is a need to help a climber down the pole.

ORGANISATION OF EACH CLIMB

Starting and finishing the climb When the Chief Judge is satisfied that the safety preparation has been observed, the starting will be undertaken by the starter. When the climber and belayer are ready, the climber will be started by the words:

'Climber by your pole. Three, two, one, GO' On "GO", the climber will start the climb and when at the top of the pole, will press a button.

TIMING AND RECORDING

All timing will be done by electronic timing equipment. Each clock will be started automatically when the climber's foot leaves the ground and activates the start switch. The clock will be stopped automatically when each climber pushes the button at the top of the pole. This time will be recorded in writing. A stopwatch will also be taken for each race based on visual observations of starting and finishing, and will also be recorded in writing.

TIME CHECKING AND DISPUTES

Every time in each event will be recorded in writing. It is the responsibility of each climber directly after the event to check the recorded times and agree with the timers. Any disagreements must be brought to the attention of the Chief Steward before the following climb commences to allow rapid Investigation and decision. The Chief Steward will be responsible for settling any disputes and his decision will be final. Entry Fee: $20 Prize Money: As stated
