Dear friends of God,
Happy Easter! They say that distance makes the heart grow fonder. I couldn’t be fonder of our parish family. Our time of social distancing has provided me with the time to pray for each of you, to hold you in my heart and to offer Eucharist for our separated family. The first year at a parish is a time of learning and growing for a pastor. This year, especially during this time of concern for the Coronavirus, has taught me so much about what it means to be a priest and a pastor. On my first Easter Sunday as your pastor, I will pray the prayers of the Mass alone, but I will not be lonely. Your presence will be in my heart and I will be carried by your prayers. Even though we might be social distancing, our hearts continue to speak words of love: St. Francis DeSales taught that “heart speaks to heart.” We embrace this belief when we gather in Jesus’ name, knowing we are never alone. The Risen Lord holds us all together. We continue to be the Body of Christ embraced by the Sacred Heart of Jesus. Faith is a relationship of love. It is a relationship involving God’s unconditional love for us and our invitation from God to love as he loves. Easter is the season of God’s invitation to love. God loved us so much that he humbled himself to become one with us in our frail and broken humanity. Jesus came to us as our divine physician initiating us into God’s Kingdom through love, compassion and his very presence. As a human family, we rejected this invitation and nailed God’s love to a tree. We did not understand what God being in love with us meant. Jesus came to remind us that our vocation and our nature are born out of God’s love. A priest professor many years ago described our human nature so beautifully when he said Being=Being in love and that Being in love=Being in God. Our life itself is about love and by living as people of love we are living with God. True, authentic, compassionate and humble love give us a glimpse of Heaven on earth that is the Reign of God. It is my hope that our parishioners are taking the time to read the daily scriptures that we use at Mass to keep us attentive to the words that show us the way to eternal life in these holy seasons of Lent and Easter. It is our practice at weekend Masses to share scripture introductions to our first two readings.
These were written by Bishop Ken Untener years ago. I will share the introductions that go along with the readings from Easter Sunday. I pray that it helps each of us as we grow in wisdom as people fed by both Word and Eucharist.
First Reading: Acts 10:34a, 37-43
The Apostle Peter was originally skeptical about preaching the Gospel to non-Jews. But one day, the Holy Spirit summoned him to preach to a Gentile – the pagan army officer Cornelius and his household. Today’s passage is a portion of Peter’s sermon, which summarizes the life and ministry of Jesus.
Second Reading: Colossians 3:1-4
The letter to the Colossians depicts Christ as the only mediator between God and the world. A previous passage of the letter presented baptism as the way we are united with Christ. The author will today remind us of the heights to which Christ has raised us, and then call upon us to live up to this.
On Easter Sunday, we have a portion of the story of Jesus’ Resurrection from John’s Gospel. In the passage we hear about one of Jesus’ closest friends, Mary Magdalene. She was an intimate disciple of the Lord along with the 12 apostles. She is known as the Apostle to the Apostles. Mary Magdalene was the one who announced the good news of Jesus’ Resurrection to the Apostles. She had a deep understating of Jesus’ teaching and followed him with great courage. As one teacher put it, she could “…walk the talk.” Easter is our time to begin to walk the talk. We are a people who were created by love and saved by the Son of the God of love to be people of love for the life of the world. Our vocation is to love no matter what life throws our way and in loving we are never alone. We have each other and the care of saints who have gone before us in Easter love. Easter peace! Much love,

SPIRITUAL COMMUION During these difficult times when we cannot
attend Mass and receive Christ’s Body and blood,
an Act of Spiritual Communion
may give us some consolation.
It might help us to read the
scripture readings for the day and
then to pray a prayer such as this
one written by St. Alphonsus Liguori in the 18th
century:
My Jesus, I believe that you are present in
the most Blessed Sacrament. I love You
above all things and I desire to receive
You into my soul. Since I cannot now
receive You sacramentally, come at least
spiritually into my heart. I embrace You as
if You were already there, and unite myself
wholly to You. Never permit me to be
separated from You. Amen.
Together let us walk in the steps of Christ with
compassion, faith, charity and justice.
SUPPORT YOUR PARISH
During this Coronavirus outbreak we know
there may be hardships among many of our
parishioners, but we would like you to
remember to support your parish during
these times. We still have our monthly
expenses and we rely on your contributions.
Please drop off your envelope or mail it. Or,
if it is more convenient, there is an online
giving option. Click on the app store for your
device and download the OLG (online giving)
app or visit holytrinitypinconning.org for more
information on online giving.
Please contact the parish office 879-2141 for
more information.
A Drop Box has been installed by the
office door for you to safely leave your
weekly contribution. EASTER PRAYER
O Lord, How amazing is your love,
A love that overcomes, endures and redeems. How astounding is your life,
A life that sustains, heals and creates. How awesome is your hope,
A hope that promises, restores and inspires. How absorbing is your truth,
A truth that releases, changes and rebuilds.
How we worship you, as we remember the moment when your love conquered.
When out of the cave of sorrow Jesus arose to release forgiveness to the world.
And each time we encounter this resurrection day we are again lifted to an eternal place.
Our sin, brokenness and darkness fall away and your light and peace flood our lives.
How we thank you for this incredible celebration we call Easter.
Amen
In your kindness and prayers please remember the souls of
Suzan Murawski Ed Pashak
May they enjoy the great blessings of eternal
life.

EDUCATION/FAITH FORMATION Family Talk Time Celebrating Sunday for Catholic Families -
Sara McGinnis Lee Please read today’s readings as a family; Mt 21:1-11/Is 50:4-7/Ps 22:8-9, 17-18, 19-20, 23-24/Phil 2:6-11/Mt 26:14—27:66 or 27:11-54.
Reflecting on the Word: The story begins in darkness,
which is symbolic as the realization of the empty tomb
dawns on Mary of Magdala. It is probably light by the
times she returns to the tomb accompanies by the two
disciples. Simon Peter enters the empty tomb, but he
first disciple ahead of him is the one who believes upon
seeing the burial cloths. There is indeed a glimpse of
new life in this account, but even richer is the truth that
the stone is rolled back and that Christ’s Resurrection
signifies triumph over death. The details in John’s
account invite us to reflect upon a most amazing gift:
faith in Christ and his Resurrection.
Living the Word: Christ is risen, Alleluia! We are
celebrating the greatest mystery of our faith: that death
has been vanquished by the power of God’s love.
Celebrate Easter and continue celebrating the whole
week. Sing Alleluia at prayer time. Fill your house with
flowers ( a sign of new life).
During this Covid-19 shutdown mail cards or call those
who are homebound, far from family, or feeling lonely
and wish them a Happy Easter.
