1. Situation analysis
George Holmes got idea for new security device which he could successfully test
market through Dowsons Ltd. In addition to keeping Dowsons as big clients, he
could also add Rowan as another big client and few small clients. He diversified
to advisory service for installation.
After managing the business on part time basis for one year, Holmes established
a company and hired full time employees.
In middle of second year, Holmes got call from Jackson, buyer from Dowsons.
Jackson told that he is under pressure to buy security device from Browns and
he is also looking for evening job to get extra cash.
2. Problem:
Problem is risk of losing business with Dowson .
3. Options
There are two options with Holmes after getting call from Jacksons,
a) Retain the business with Dowsons
b) Lose the business with Dowsons

From evaluation of options, we can see that continuing business with Dowsons
is very important for Holmes at this stage of company for some more time.
7. Action plan
Holmes need to do following as part of immediate action plan while meeting for
lunch,
a) Offer facilitation fee to Jackson
b) Offer part time evening employment to Jackson
Both of above offers will help in overcoming current threat temporarily, if
Jacksons accept one or both . However, Holmes need to do following to reduce or
eliminate the risk of losing business with Dowsons,
a) Develop good relations with Herry Thomas and try to find out real story
about Browns.
b) Make market survey about products of Browns.
8. Contingency plan
a) Engage with Thomos in case deal with Jackson fails
b) Start exploring other potential building contractors for supply and advisory
services
