Elk Of The Month for September
Eddie Scanlon
Brother and Sister Elks,
We made it through the
dog days of summer and
now it is time to get to
work. We will need to hold
many functions to raise
money for our roof repair.
All ideas are welcome.
The Veteran's Committee
will be having Flea Markets the next three
months. The dates are Oct. 4, Nov. 8, and Dec.
13. Please support this worthwhile cause.
Please take note of the flyer promoting our
Halloween dinner. We want to see as many of
our members attending as possible. It is almost
time to drop delinquent members from our rolls.
If you are one or know someone who is. the
dues must be paid NOW !
Fraternally, John E. Musser, Exalted Ruler

Sunday Brunch The Veteran’s Committee
The Veterans Committee is having
a Hallo ween Party at the Sandy
Nininger South Florida Veterans
Nursin g Home on October 28,
2014 at 2:30PM. All members of
the Lodge are invited to this event.
Jill Jaco bs is our new Librarian for the Lodge. She has
cleaned up the Lodge bookcase and took the extra books
to the Susan B. Anthony Recovery Center in Pembroke
Pines. The Veterans Committee also support the women
and children. Two months ago the Veterans Committee,
Sal and Lydia Grille, Dave Ryan and myself delivered
over $200.00 in cereal and candy to the center. The cen-
ter is home to the girls and woman that had a substance
abuse problem, some have babies and small children. If
you have any thing to donate for babies or small children
(boys or girls), and women, we will deliver the articles to
them.
"Honor Flight" will not take place this Fall on October
11, do to the fact that the Lodge Members did not ap-
prove the funds for Honor Flight in time. We are having
an additional Flea Market in October to raise funds for a
Sprin g "Honor Flight". Please go to HonorFlightSo uth-
Florida.org to see how important this event is. It takes
WWll Veterans to Washington D.C. to see the Memorial
dedicated to them for their service. It is also good for the
Lodge that we are doing something for our Veterans.
On November 8 and December 13, the Veterans Com-
mittee is having a Craft Show in side the Lodge and a
Flea Market outside. All of the space and table rentals
raised on the inside of the Lodge goes to the Lodge. WE
NEED HELP !!!!!!! The Lodge belongs to all of us and
we need everyone to help. We also need your donations
of items we can sell. We expect this to be a very busy
season.
George Caffrey Cell: 954-494-5299
Veterans Committee Chairman
Upcoming Flea Market Dates:
OCT. 4h , Nov 8th AND DEC. 13 2014.
Secretary’s Corner
Brother and Sister Elks,
We have two proposals
for membership, Dave F
Ferris, proposed by John
Musser, and Patricia Dollard, proposed by
Sharon Bryan. Also, Alfano Alfanso applied
for reinstatement from Sunrise Lodge.
Congratulations to Ed Scanlon for Elk of
the month for his outstanding loyalty and
service. The holiday season is upon us
and we have plans for Halloween, Thanks-
giving, and Christmas, as well as Dinty
Moore. Please come out and support
these functions. Thanks to all who will be
working to make them a success. Our
lodge needs a new roof. We are planning
raffles, 50/50's and are accepting dona-
tions to raise the necessary funds. Please
see the bartender or myself to make a do-
nation. Don't forget to attend the flea
market to support our Veteran's Commit-
tee.

State President's Message
Florida Elks, “Shooting for Our
Goals”
Welcome to our web page.
http://floridaelks.org/state-
president-message
Please take this opportunity to
explore the great things the Flor-
ida State Elks Association does and all of the many things
we have to offer.
Please visit the Youth Camp link, take the virtual tour and
watch the video. What a fantastic facility! As we always
say “We are the Best.” If you have not seen the newBates
Aquatic Center then you need to plan a trip or look into
the bus funding program. This is just one of our major
projects. Then look at the Children’s Therapy Service’s
link, watch the video and take a look at the statistics on
how many children and families we have helped.
It doesn’t stop there. Look at the Youth Scholarship site,
the Military and Veterans programs we sponsor, the
FLOE’s activities, go to the member forum and chat wi th
other members. The Florida State Elk’s Association has a
lot to offer - ge t on board and begin helping o thers by be-
ing an active member.
My motto this year is “Shooting for our Goals to Protect
the Future.” As you can see we have a lot to protect. Le t’s
start se tting Goals to Protect all of our Programs. I have
always said, “A LOT OF PEOPLE DEPEND ON THE FLOR-
IDA STATE ELKS ASSOCIATION.” Let’s work hard on reach-
ing our Goals so the that the Florida Elks will be able to
continue helping o thers for years to come.
Fraternally,
Danny E Tabor —State President
