Geography
Brentwood is roughly divided into two geographic areas.
Area north of Sunset consists of the rising foothills of the Santa Monica Mountains.
The area south of sunset is mostly flat.
Getty Museum and the VA
-The Getty contains art from the Middle Ages to the present.
-The VA Hospital helps Veterans with all types of health care needs.
Brentwood Country Club and San Vicente
Opened in 1948, the golf course is over 6,700 yards.
It is a par 72 course that is considered one of the finer courses in Los Angeles.
Big Blue Bus and Metro Buses
The Big Blue Bus lines that run through Brentwood are 2, 3, 4, 11, 13, 14.
The Metro line running through Brentwood are the 20 and the 720 on Wilshire Blvd.
Vicente Foods Dutton’s Book Store Vicente Foods is an
independent food store since 1948 specializing in gourmet foods.
Dutton’s was a famous independent book store in in business for many years before closing last April.
Brentwood Schools
University High School is a public 4-year school serving West Los Angeles.
Archer is a prestigious private girls school with a reputation for academic excellence.
Police Station Fire Department
LAPD was established in 1853, as the Los Angeles Rangers. Later became one of the largest law enforcement agencies in the U.S.
Established in 1886, LAFD has 106 stations. Station #19 being in Brentwood.
LA Public Library
Churches in Brentwood
The LAPL was established in 1872. It has 72 branches all over California.
St. Martin of Tours (a Roman Catholic) Church was founded in 1946 is located on Sunset Blvd. It is also a Catholic School.
Brentwood Presbyterian Church is located on San Vicente. Founded in 1929 and has more than 750 members.
Brentwood-Bel Air Fire
November 6th-7th 1961. Started in the Santa Monica Mountains. Blew farther south
and westward with 50mph winds. When the fire finally died it destroyed 6,090 acres of land
along with 484 residences and 21 other buildings
OJ Simpson Murder Trial
On July 12th 1994 OJ Simpson was accused of murdering his ex wife Nicole Brown and her friend at her condo on Bundy Drive.

Rancho San Vicente Y Santa Monica
In 1839 Juan Alvarado, the governor, gave 33,000 acres of land in Los Angeles County to man named Francisco Sepulveda.
San Vicente used to be 130 feet wide with a little railroad. The Los Angeles Pacific Electric Railway
