Our Ministry
Catalog Introduction
Dear Friend in Christ:
Serving in the name of Jesus is a true joy and a privilege. While the
worship experiences we share together as a church are important, it is in
living a lifestyle of service that we begin to embrace the vision that
Jesus cast for following him. In this way, service is an act of worship.
The fact that you are opening this catalog speaks of your interest in
serving others for Christ by being involved in a ministry at Heritage. I
am excited that you are exploring ways to serve!!
This catalog is designed to provide an overview of the various ministries
at Heritage. It is my hope that this catalog answers many of your initial
questions about getting involved in a ministry—what ministries exist, who
to contact, what will be expected of you, and how to get started. If you
have further questions after reviewing this catalog, please contact me
directly at 817-741-0499 or [email protected]. I would love to visit
with you about how to be involved at Heritage!!
You will notice that each ministry provides a ―test drive‖ opportunity.
This is a way for you to ―get a feel‖ for a ministry with no obligation or
strings attached. Maybe it is a perfect for you—if so, I hope you’ll jump
right. Maybe it isn’t the right fit—no problem, just give something else a
try. It is my opinion that we discover our spiritual gifts most effectively
when we get involved and see what God blesses, what others affirm in us,
and what energizes us.
Our mission at Heritage is ―Connecting People to God, to One Another
and to Purpose.‖ It is my hope that the time you spend perusing these
pages will lead to relationships and opportunities that help you connect in
each of these ways more deeply.

Serving opportunities are available before, during or after weekend
service times. They range from once every month to weekly
opportunities. Some opportunities are on a as needed basis. Though it
is true that we minister directly to children there are still many
volunteer opportunities available that are extremely vital to the
ministry which do not involve teaching, assisting or even directly
working with kids.
Ministry Expectations & Tasks
Ministry Description
Children’s Ministry at Heritage spans from infancy through 6th grade. Our aim
is to instill a Christian heritage into the hearts and minds of every child so that
they will natural grow into authentic followers of Jesus Christ.
Our kids receive developmentally appropriate curriculum in every classroom.
Kids enjoy a live worship experience and are taught a life-applicable Bible lesson
every week. To encourage the growth of Christian relationships (Acts 2:42) we
teach in large and small groups. Currently we offer a Traditional Bible Class Hour
and an interactive Kid’s Church Hour. We use creativity to present biblical truths
through music, puppets, teaching and media in all of our classrooms.
―Test Drive‖ Opportunities
Join us for a Children’s Ministry Tour and see, first hand, how our Super Servants (volunteers)
make Children's Ministry at Heritage the BEST hour in every kid’s week. During this time, your
tour guide will give you the scoop on what makes our ministry such a great place to serve! You will
also have the chance to ask any Children’s Ministry questions that you might have.
READY TO BOOK A TOUR? Book your tour date by calling or emailing our Children’s Minister
Matthew ―Jamba‖ Johnson. The Children’s Ministry Tour starts at 10:15 and last approximately 75
minutes.
―It is very encouraging to know that when I bring my children to church – they are being
taken care of, building friendships and learning how God loves them! I am so thankful for
our children’s ministry volunteers and the time they spend investing in our children!‖ -

BIBLE CLASS ASSISTANT TEACHER: As an Assistant Teacher you would help out in one of the classes that
are set up in a ―Sunday School‖ format. You would help the main teacher in the class. As the Bible Class Teacher
Assistant you would not be the main teacher but may lead a portion of the lesson such as crafts, games, or
helping to keep the kids focused and excited. You would be a ―teacher in training‖ and a teacher when a sub is
needed. SERVING DURATION: Every week or every other week for one service.
INTERACTIVE DRAMA & ARTS: Were you voted class clown? Do you enjoy being the center of attention?
Learning doesn’t have to be boring, in fact you’ll learn more when it’s something you’re interested in and excited
about. If you like to act, tell stories or use puppets then we welcome you to our center stage to help make the
Bible come alive! REQUIREMENTS: Commitment to meet for practices when scheduled. SERVING DURATION:
As needed, approximately 5-20 minutes depending on the script.
WORSHIP: If you can do the motions to a song while singing or are willing to learn then you have what it takes to
be an active part of Kid’s Worship. Our songs help to teach Bible stories or biblical principles in a way that kids
enjoy. What are you waiting for? Use your talents and come sing with the Children’s Worship team. Not a gifted
singer? It’s okay neither are the kids! Come and lead or assist us during our time of worship. Help us model to
our little ones the importance of worship and prayer. SERVING DURATION: Approx. 30 minutes.
SPECIAL EVENT VOLUNTEER: (Seminars, Family Events, Meetings etc.) Some of our special events offer
Childcare or may have something for children which require volunteer assistance (such as supervising a bounce
house). Help make our special events enjoyable for parents who attend them by giving them the peace of mind
that their kids are in good hands.
REGISTRATION TABLE OR GREETER: Coming to church can be intimidating. The smiles that greet our little
ones as they walk into the Children’s Ministry area make a world of difference. We are looking for people to
welcome the kids and their parents. From registering a kid and giving them a name tag to showing a visiting family
where their classrooms are. Join us and make a big difference in a family’s Sunday.
RESOURCE ROOM HELPER: (Sunday mornings) Do you have an eye for organization? Are you passionate about
pipe cleaners? Then sign up to help keep the Resource Room organized and stocked. You will also be able to help
teachers and volunteers find the resources they need for their class.
ADMINISTRATIVE HELPER: (any time) You can help gather supplies for Sunday, prepare crafts, or develop
skits, etc. You can also help by sending e-mails, mailings or photocopies.
SMALL GROUP LEADER: Join us as a Small Group Leader in our ―Kid’s Church‖ style service. As a Small Group
Leader you will lead a group of kids from a specific age in a short Bible story, and discussion. You will also help
facilitate by keeping your group active and focused during games, the main teaching or other aspects of the
service which are led by the Large Group Leader. REQUIREMENTS: At least 15 years old. SERVING
DURATION: Every week or every other week for one service.
CRAFT HELPER: We like to incorporate crafts for the kids that reinforce their Bible lesson. Sometimes the
crafts for the younger kids involve cutting, stapling, or other steps that may be too hard for these little ones to
do by themselves. So we like to do some of those steps ahead of time. We will provide you with the supplies and
instructions explaining what to do.
AND MANY MORE: There are many opportunities available not listed. We can tailor projects to fit your passions
& talents. If you have a heart for serving God and blessing the future generation of Christians, we can help you to
do that here with us, in Children's Ministry. Contact us and we’ll find a spot that fits you best.

Ministry Expectations & Tasks
Ministry Description
The Heritage Youth Ministry is Heritage’s ministry to teenagers from 7th to 12th grade. The
purpose of Heritage – Connecting people to God, to one another and to purpose – is specifically
carried out in the lives of our students through the Youth Ministry.
If there’s one word that describes the goal of this ministry, it’s ―relationship.‖ Everyone who
has lived past their teenage years knows that those years are difficult, but the evidence shows
that these years are getting harder and harder as time goes by. Our goal is to help our students
develop meaningful, Godly relationships – with each other and with faithful, Christian adults –
that will help their faith to not only survive, but thrive during their difficult teenage years.
Volunteers in this ministry either work WITH Students (direct-contact) or work TO
SUPPORT Students (behind-the-scenes support roles), but they all contribute towards helping
students build Godly relationships.
―Test Drive‖ Opportunities
Very few of the support tasks that are involved require any kind of special training, and most just
require a willing heart! Test-Driving as a volunteer in the Youth Ministry can happen in two ways:
Potential volunteers who are interested in working WITH students (direct-contact) should begin
by coming to an event and spending some time talking to students. You can contact Brock at the
Youth Ministry office and setup a time to do just that! The Safe-servant background check process
will be required before the test-drive can occur.
Those who are interested in working TO SUPPORT students (behind-the-scenes support roles) can
contact Brock and find out what roles are available. We’ll find a role for you to tryout, or create a
new one if it would help our students build Godly relationships. (See the next page for Youth Ministry
Opportunities)
Connecting people… to God… to one another… and to purpose.
THE FIRST PRIORITY OF YOUTH MINISTRY VOLUNTEERS IS TO HELP
STUDENTS BUILD GODLY RELATIONSHIPS. Some roles allow volunteers to
personally develop these relationships – to be the Faithful, Christian adult in the
lives of some of our students. Other roles allow volunteers to contribute to an
event or an ongoing program in the ministry that allows those relationships to be
developed. There are support roles that need to be filled, and a few roles that
include behind-the-scenes tasks that don’t involve working directly with students,
but the Youth Ministry has positions for people with many skills!

young singles, and young couples. We strive to provide
meaningful community through Bible class, small groups,
social events, and service opportunities.

gravitate naturally to a specific aspect of the ministry from there. We hope to see
you soon!!

everyone by name. It is a place you can feel comfortable and at ease with. Try it
out, you’ll love it!
Our ministry provides a comfortable atmosphere for singles to
strengthen their relationships with the Lord and develop
meaningful relationships with each other. Through Bible studies
and fellowship we strive to share God's truth about life and how
it relates to the relationships and responsibilities of single adults.
Connecting people… to God… to one another… and to purpose.
Page 11
Teachers serving in this ministry may be involved on Sunday morning with classes
for Single Adults, Young Married Couples, Young Families, Older Adults(Empty-
Nesters) and Ladies. Subjects currently being taught range from Basic Bible
Knowledge to Focusing on the Future in Revelation. A published curriculum is used
in some classes, and other classes use teacher-prepared lessons. Subjects are
changed quarterly, and teachers are given the opportunity to rotate regularly.
Students typically have a fresh topic and a fresh teacher every quarter.
Ministry Expectations & Tasks
Ministry Description
One of the expectations of members at Heritage is to
―participate weekly in the worship assembly, a Bible study
class and a small group‖. This ministry offers a variety of
Bible study classes in a variety of age groups on Sunday
mornings. As a teacher or student, your involvement in
these classes will deepen your connection to God, offer
opportunities to connect to members and visitors alike and
clarify your purpose in living.
―Test Drive‖ Opportunities
Teachers, give me a call. If you have a series of lessons prepared, we can work you into
the schedule for a quarter. If you would prefer to teach using prepared material, we
have curriculum classes that can help you get started. We attempt to have co-teachers in
a class; so that you are not completely tied down and feel as though you are doing it by
yourself. There are also occasionally opportunities to fill in for a Sunday when the
assigned teacher is out.
―Your class really makes me think and
examine the traditions I have grown up
with.‖ —A Class Member

Currently our ushers are serving for a short time during the second service but
the need for ushers during the first service may arise as we approach the 1000-
mark. We meet at the info table about 10-15 minutes before service starts for
fellowship and prayer. After which we greet people as they enter the Family Center
and escort those in need of finding unoccupied seating. Currently our ushers are
serving in monthly cycles.
Ministry Expectations & Tasks
Ministry Description
God has blessed Heritage, He is at work in our
church and as we approach the 1000-mark in
attendance the need for assistance in finding
seating for those who are a "little late"
increases. This is a wonderful opportunity to meet
people with a smile and help them find a seat
with very little disturbance.

Communion is served from three tables in the back of the auditorium. There is a
table leader in charge of each communion table. It is the responsibility of this
person to pick and assign the men to pass the trays from that table. We usually ask
those wishing to serve as communion servers to do so for the whole month. We ask
that they report-in to their table leader before services start each Sunday. In
addition, during the closing song if those who usually pick-up the attendance slips
are absent communion servers may be asked to fill in.
Ministry Expectations & Tasks
Ministry Description
It has been our tradition in churches of Christ that
men serve communion in worship assemblies. Every male
member at Heritage who is physically able and available
is invited to help serve communion. He may serve at

In addition to meeting with their respective groups once per week, volunteers in this ministry may
also be trained for the following:
1. Serving as a small group leader or “facilitator.” This role does not involve teaching or
talking a lot. It does involve encouraging group members to share their insights and life
experiences with the group, making sure that the group stays aligned with the guidelines of
the Heritage Small Groups Plan, and performing a few minor administrative tasks.
2. Serving as a small group host. This role involves opening your home as a meeting place for
the small group, ranging in frequency from meeting every week to meeting every once in a
while if the group meets ―house to house.‖ It may involve serving food, though not necessarily
preparing food.
3. Serving as a small groups ministry support volunteer. This role involves assisting the small
groups minister in various support tasks, including assembling training manuals, assisting at
training events with hospitality, and helping host the Small Groups Re-Launch Celebration in
Sept. every year.
Ministry Expectations & Tasks
Ministry Description
The overall intention is to connect people to God, to purpose,
and especially to one another. Meeting once per week in groups of
8 to 14, group participants develop ever-deepening relationships
based on the spiritual community that was made possible by the
cross and is found only in Christ. They become ―one in heart and
mind‖ as described in Acts 4:32…a closeness or connection in spirit
between believers that goes beyond natural friendship. Group
members also engage in ministry together by volunteering as a
group to take on various tasks or ministry opportunities that arise.
―Test Drive‖ Opportunities
Anyone…guest or member…may
visit a small group to ―test drive‖ the
small group experience. In fact,
several groups may be visited until
the best ―fit‖ is found.
"The absolute joy of being involved with a small group is having people

Ministry Expectations & Tasks
Ministry Description
The Divorce Recovery ministry helps adults and
children heal from the pain associated with separation
and divorce through connecting people personally with
the Great Physician. Facilitators lead recovery groups
through proven Bible based curriculum while listening
and showing compassion to group members. Our goal is
to point people to Jesus so they can heal and realize
their Godly purpose and focus again.
―Test Drive‖ Opportunities
You are invited to come and
sit in on a single session to
observe and see if the
Divorce Recovery ministry is
the right place for you to
serve.
―I have seen people come into these sessions not
knowing what to expect and very silent. Once they
learn others have or are going through the same
things, they begin to open up and allow God’s
healing. The experience of being a part of this is a
witness of God’s love for us.‖
Connecting people… to God… to one another… and to purpose.
A compassionate, caring heart for people who
are hurting emotionally is the most basic need for
working in the Divorce Recovery ministry. We
are not a counseling ministry but a support group
to help these people stay connected to God and
the church during this difficult time. Group
facilitating skills are helpful for group
facilitators; However these skills can be learned.

Whether working diligently ―behind the scenes,‖ or helping plan and coordinate
an event or activity, or simply participating in activities that interest you, all
Heritage women have a place in this ministry. Empowering women of all ages to be
about their Father’s business will no doubt have a lasting effect in all areas of our
church.
Ministry Expectations & Tasks
Ministry Description
Our church has been blessed with an incredible family
of women. Heritage women are creative, innovative,
sensitive, gifted, nurturing, resourceful and resilient!
God knows that is true because He has created us in His
image. Join us as we strive to grow closer to God, closer
to each other and closer to fulfilling his perfect plan for
our lives.
―Test Drive‖ Opportunities
Being a part of a women’s ministry is like no other. Simply being a woman
member of Heritage makes you a vital part of our ministry. No special talents are
needed. A love for the Lord, a servant heart and a desire to be with other
Christian women makes everyone qualified for service.
―We love you so much that we are delighted to share with you
not only the gospel of God but our lives as well, because you
have become so dear to us.‖

Tournament planners generally begin looking for the best tournament rates about
4-5 months prior to the tournament. We begin advertising about 6 weeks prior to
the tournament, and we generally begin registration about the same time.
Registration volunteers are generally expected to arrive 15 minutes prior to the
assembly time they volunteered for and register as well as recruit teams. The key
to this tournament is to plant seeds in people that the golf tournament is an
outreach opportunity.
Ministry Expectations & Tasks
Someone with a passion
for golf and a heart for
outreach would be
perfect for this
ministry.
Ministry Description
The purpose of the Heritage Golf Tournament is to
provide opportunities for members at Heritage to connect
to one another, and the tournament also serves as a fun and
non-threatening way to reach out to friends, family,
coworkers, and neighbors, introducing them to Christians
and ultimately Christ through a common interest in the
game of golf.
―Test Drive‖ Opportunities
A great opportunity to test drive this ministry is to work registration during one
of the assembly times at Heritage.
Last year numerous tournament participants told me how blessed
they were by spending some time with Heritage members outside of
the church building and in God’s beautiful creation.

There are several ways to help with this ministry. Some volunteers prepare meals

building and other volunteers deliver the meals. Some volunteers organize meals for
one of the Moms. Some provide cash or gift cards directly to the families.
Ministry Expectations & Tasks
Ministry Description
We provide meals to families with
new babies. This is a wonderful way
to minister to families and make
connections with each other.
―Test Drive‖ Opportunities
A person who would want to take a test drive could simply
provide a meal for a new mom or prepare a meal for the

that you call the family and work out a time for delivery.
When making the delivery, please keep the visit short.
Most of our communications are through email, but, if you
don’t have email, don’t let that stop you. We can give you a

Ministry team members are called upon several times a year to provide food for our
New Member Luncheons. The coordinator assigns each member a combination of salad,
vegetable and/or dessert to help feed the new members and the ministry team. Team
members are encouraged to attend the luncheon, meeting and greeting as many new
members as possible. They are asked to eat lunch with new members so all tables will
have a combination of ―new‖ and ―old‖ members. This may require team members to be
flexible and accommodating in order to serve the needs of our new members.
Ministry Expectations & Tasks
We are looking for people with
a passion for meeting new
people and a desire to make our
new members feel important

Ministry Description
The New Member Ministry team introduces our newest

of members interested in making them feel welcome at
Heritage. This is done at periodic luncheons throughout
the year coordinated by the members of this team. New
members hear about the background and history of

them in finding their ―place‖ in our church family.

Volunteers need to be comfortable in dealing with older people an the nursing facility environment. Otherwise, all you need is a caring, concerned heart, and the ability to establish a few new friends who are residents at nearby nursing homes. Visit consistency and at least one half hour of dedicated one-on-one time at least by-weekly is important to ensure that the residents can count upon their new friend who cares.
Ministry Expectations & Tasks

Ministry Expectations & Tasks
Ministry Description
The aim of this team of men and women is to provide the safest
environment possible for Heritage members and their guests
during the time we meet to worship on Sunday mornings and
Wednesday evenings. We live in a changing time and know that
sometimes what happens in our community can come into our church
building. While we are not a replacement for law enforcement
officers we care about the safety of the families who gather to
worship here at this place.
―Test Drive‖ Opportunities
Give Jeremy a call or stop one of your friends that is serving and stay alongside him/her for the
morning/evening. Hopefully, when you leave you will realize the comfort a parent feels knowing
their children are being monitored or the security the woman attending service alone feels going to
her car and driving home because of your presence.
―We stand ready to assist church members in emergency circumstances, and in
areas of fire safety, accident prevention and building monitoring.‖
Connecting people… to God… to one another… and to purpose.
Our job is fairly simple as long as one is cautious and keeps an open eye to unusual activity. Each
team member is furnished a radio and identification and is assigned a portion of the building or
surrounding parking lots to keep watch over. This ministry team of men and women (age 18 and
older) is reformatting to allow individuals to serve during one worship assembly and attend worship
during the opposite time on Sunday mornings. Expanding our volunteer base will make for less
frequent service times and allow team members to serve in other ministry fields.

Ministry Expectations & Tasks
Ministry Description
This ministry is not one of recognition and

of the most important factors in welcoming
anyone into our building.
―Test Drive‖ Opportunities

―We have different gifts, according to the grace given us. If a man's gift is prophesying, let him
use it in proportion to his faith. If it is serving, let him serve; if it is teaching, let him teach; if it

that provide professional services such as plumbing, construction, heating and air

Ministry Description
Our purpose is to accomplish simple tasks at no charge for HCC
members in need of special assistance. Examples of tasks include

changing furnace filters, installing batteries in smoke detectors,
washing first-floor windows, cleaning gutters which are not higher
than 10', cleaning ceiling fans or ceiling fixtures, cleaning garages,
retrieving items from easily accessible attics, caulking in
bathrooms. Other requests will be considered as received.
―Test Drive‖ Opportunities
Task Force reviews requests and contacts the clients to arrange scheduling. Expect
to get your hands dirty, your muscles a little sore, and to find that a heartfelt thanks

the light shine in the precious faces and watch the wonderment in their
eyes as they learn and grow. It has brought me so much personal and
spiritual fulfillment to be a part of this awesome ministry.‖

Connecting people… to God… to one another… and to purpose.
Currently our Preschool hours are Mon. - Thurs. from 9:00 am to 2:00 pm. All staff
are expected to arrive by 8:30 and leave at 2:30. All staff are expected to work
extended day as scheduled. We ask all staff to always represent a positive attitude as
they represent Christ to our children by example. Teachers are to be loving and kind.
They must attend training to ensure that the expectations of the preschool are
clearly understood. We provide all of the materials for the children and the staff.
Volunteers are welcomed and wanted. We use volunteers in the office and classrooms
as well as for our fundraisers and monthly activities.
Nurture children as they
learn about God’s love
and become ―Authentic
Christians‖.

We would like to come up with ways to raise funds or supplies for Christ’s Haven.
There are many different ways that you can serve and help out. Get involved by
using creative thinking to come up with ideas to successfully raise funds or come
help out with the events. You can be used if you like to plan out details or if you
would prefer to be given a task to accomplish.
Ministry Expectations & Tasks
Ministry Description
Christ’s Haven is a local children’s home. It is solely
funded by support from churches, businesses, organizations
and individuals. Our goal is for Heritage to become a
dependable support to Christ’s Haven.
We would like to have families involved in this ministry. It
is a great opportunity for us and our children to bless the
children of Christ’s Haven together.
―Test Drive‖ Opportunities
Assist with Christ Haven events such as the Christmas Party, the church wide
Garage Sale and more. There are many ways you can help with these events. You can
donate items or money, organize and plan, set up or tear down, or help out during
the events.
Nothing can match the feeling of knowing that you
are a part of such a wonderful cause as Christ’s
Haven.

Come with a big smile and a willingness to listen to what others are saying. We
ask members to serve on this ministry for a minimum of two weeks prior to a blood
drive, (4 blood drives per year). We will meet two times per year to discuss our
blood drives, promotions, and responsibilities for the year. Your job will entail
recruiting members to sign up to donate blood. We would also like to have a few
people who would call donors. Their task would be to call and remind volunteers of
the up coming drive and the time slot they signed up for.
Ministry Expectations & Tasks
If you have compassion
and mercy for those in
need of life giving
blood, join with us.
Ministry Description
The goal of this ministry is to have 75-100 units of blood
donated by our members at each blood drive. This ministry
helps not only our members that are in need of blood
transfusions but people in the local community also. We
believe this is an easy way for us to fulfill the mission
statement here at Heritage.
―Test Drive‖ Opportunities
We would love to have you become part of this ministry. All you need is a big
smile, a warm heart, and the desire to help save the lives of patients in the
hospitals that are in need of blood (Cancer Patients, babies that are born premature
and surgery patients).
A member of Heritage stated that because of blood donors he
is alive today and has the opportunity to smile another day.

We are looking for volunteers to be both active and creative in these tasks.
We are looking for volunteers to: create a missions bulletin board, create a
missions web page, or to find a way to distribute missionary newsletters. We are
also seeking volunteers to find ways to get our members and our missionaries
together for fellowship when missionaries visit.
Expectations are only that each participant will take on a particular task and
complete it in a timely manner.
Ministry Expectations & Tasks
Ministry Description
The goal is to foster strong relationships between
Heritage and our missionaries. We plan to do this in the
following ways:
Publish information from our missionaries to the
church, in a variety of different ways.
Provide opportunities for our members to get to know
our missionaries personally.
By doing these things, we serve our missionaries. Also, by learning
about and spreading the news of what they do, we help Heritage hear of
God’s work in the mission field.
―Test Drive‖ Opportunities
Contact Glenn or Marie Dixon, and we can find a test drive opportunity for you!

Ministry Expectations & Tasks
Ministry Description
The vision of the H.I.M. ministry is to provide
resources to members of the church and
community by assistance during the moving
process. This ministry is designed to help single
parents, the elderly and others with unique needs
during a stressful time. The goal of this ministry
is to show the love of Christ to others by
alleviating their burdens.
―Test Drive‖ Opportunities
Volunteers can expect to use part of a weekend every once in a while to help
others in need move. Most moves would take only part of a day to complete.
―Carry each others’ burdens and in this way you will fulfill the
law of Christ.‖ --Gal. 6:2
Connecting people… to God… to one another… and to purpose.
Compassion and willingness to help
those in need will work best in this
ministry. The ability to work with
others, providing help and showing the
love of Christ through action will be
rewarding for volunteers.
Volunteers would be called on an as needed basis. Not every volunteer would
need to help every time a move is scheduled. Volunteers would need to be able
to lift and move boxes, furniture etc. The use of personal trucks, trailers and
dollies would be helpful but not required.

Ministry Expectations & Tasks
Ministry Description
The goal of this Ministry is to help families save about 50% on their
groceries, while encouraging the building of relationships (whether
among church family or with neighbors in the community). We
partner with Food Share America and serve as a Host-Site where
individuals in our church and community can order and pick up quality
food at reduced prices on a monthly basis. The ministry receives a
monthly rebate from Food Share America (based on boxes sold).
Those funds go directly back into the ministry! Food Share is a
blessing to those in great need as well as those who desire to save on
their grocery bill so they may bless others.
―Test Drive‖ Opportunities
Interested folks can come on Distribution day and see exactly how things work! Or if
you prefer to help behind the scenes with administrative tasks, or by getting the word
out to our community, contact the Ministry leader for test drive opportunities.
―I look forward to the people I will meet and relationships that can be built just
by carrying boxes of food for a couple of hours one Saturday a month!‖
―I’m really not a people person, but I can still serve by picking up food and
delivering it back to our church one Saturday morning a month!‖
Connecting people… to God… to one another… and to purpose.
A lot of ―everyday‖ folks
are not looking for a hand-
out,
but a hand-up! This
ministry provides just that!
Volunteers are needed to help with cash orders placed through the church and other
administrative tasks. On Distribution Day (usually the 4th Saturday of the month), volunteers
pick up and sort food to fill orders for that month. Boxes need to be carried out for those
who purchased food. More volunteers are needed to deliver food to recipients in need ie:
someone recovering from surgery or a bereaved family. Additional hands are needed to take
monthly order forms / posters to help spread the word to those in our community.

―That Was Me‖ Is an outreach to the homeless of Fort Worth
where we provide them with food, drinks, clothing, shoes,
toiletries and blankets. We encourage them by letting them
know that there are people who care about them as God does.
We try to remind them that they too are God’s children and
That he has not forgotten them!
―Test Drive‖ Opportunities
This group goes to downtown Fort Worth to distribute on the 1st and 3rd
Sundays of every month. The times are 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. You may join any
Time—no obligation to come again.
. “I was hungry and you fed me, I was thirsty and you gave me a drink, I was homeless and
you gave me a room, I was shivering and you gave me clothes, I was sick and you stopped to
visit, I was in prison and you came to me. Whenever you did one of these things to someone
overlooked or ignored, THAT WAS ME- you did it to me.”

Connecting people… to God… to one another… and to purpose.
You can
impact 100
lives by only
giving 2 hours
of your time a
month!
Volunteers are needed to help assemble lunches, sort clothing and distribute both. To
help, you need no experience- all you have to be able to do is smile! If you are inter-
ested, we are trying to develop one-to-one relationships as the opportunity to do so
arises. This will lead to opportunities to talk salvation with individuals, as well as en-
courage and spend time with our brothers and sisters who have fallen on hard times.

How to Add Your Ministry Connecting People
to Purpose
All the ministries in this catalog are aimed at our mission of ―Connecting People to God, to One
Another and to Purpose.‖ While every ministry at Heritage has a kingdom impact, there is always
the need for new ministries.
Have you ever thought, ―I wish our church did something like this?‖ or ―Why doesn’t our church
have something like that?‖ Do you know of some needs that none of the current ministries are
meeting? If you have an idea for a new ministry, please contact me and let’s talk about ways to
make your dream become a reality. I would love to hear what is on your heart and provide you
with some steps and suggestions for making it happen.
Also, if you have a ministry that isn’t included in this catalog and would like it to be added, please
contact me for a Ministry Catalog Application. It is my hope and prayer that God will raise up
leaders continually at Heritage to take our church to new levels and new venues for
ministry. May we have the courage to follow where He leads!
