• Haveri district is exactly in the center of Karnataka with equal distance from Bidar in the far north to Kollegal in the far south.
• It has two sub-divisions namely Haveri and Savanur with seven taluks namely Hanagal, Shiggaon, Savanur, Haveri,Byadagi, Hirekerur, & Ranebennur.
• Haveri being an administrative and political Head Quarters of the District, is 335 Kms. From Bangalore by road and 395 Kms. by rail

conditions conducive for high value horticultural/mulberry cultivation and quality seed production.
• District is rich in spice cultivation. The major spice industry in the district is the chilly powder mills. There is also a chilly processing facility in the district.
• District comprises of world famous chilly market at Byadagi and is a major export hub for Byadagi chilly.
• District also provides great scope in Animal Husbandry, Dairy development, Poultry and Sericulture

Tourism• Chaudadanapura is a small village in Ranebennur taluk. The Mukteshvara Temple is a
single cella temple in Jakkanachari style. Similar temples built under the patronage of Kalachuri or Seuna dynasties.
• Byadagi is located 15 km from Haveri is famous for the Byadagi chilies. The Tungabhadra River, 38 km away from Byadagi, is the main source of water supply.
• Siddhesvara Temple, considered an ornate example of 12th century Western Chalukyan art is well known for the loose sculptures of Hindu deities that exist and features delicately carved marvelous pillars & an ornate ceiling with floral designs. The exterior walls are beautifully carved.
• Kaginelli, a small serene village which lures the visitors by its panoramic landscape and lush greenery lies nine miles west of Haveri on the way to Hirekerur.
• Bunkapur Navilu Dham.

Agriculture & FoodProcessing:• An Agri Investment region is proposed in
the district which will comprise of agriculture SEZ, Agriengineering, Agri research units, primary processing centers etc.
• Recently an agro food sector project with an investment of INR 100 Cr has been approved in the district
• In Haveri District Dairy development and poultry are major activities
• State Government has also proposed a 120 acre Spice Park in the district to further enhance the scope of spice cultivation.
Potential IndustriesOther Sectors:Sericulture:• Agro-climatically, the district is well
suited for mulberry cultivation and sericulture is being practiced for the past 30 years. Ranebennur block is potentially strong and has got 600 hectares of mulberry area
Animal Husbandary:• Sheep and goat rearing are confined
mainly to Haveri and Ranebennur taluks and also to specific communities. Pig rearing is seen in all the taluks.
• Ranebennur leads in tems of the number of cattle head followed by Haveri, Hirekerur and Hangal.
Fibre:• District has large players like Grasim
