| PRESENTATION For four years, the Tourism & Convention Bureau of the Municipality of Mexicali has published this Medical Guide that seeks to be a reference for visitors who come to Mexicali, looking for medical attention. BIENVENIDAMexicali es un municipio joven, dinámico y próspero, el cual se ha con-vertido en la Capital de la Salud. HOW THE MEDICAL LANE WORKS?The Medical Lane is an access at the border crossing only for foreigners that used health services in Mexicali such as hospitals, clinics, doctors, drugstores or laboratories that are members of the Medical lane and provide to patients a pass to return to the U.S. through the Medical Lane that has less waiting time to cross the border than the regular lanes. In order to be able to use the Medical Lane, a patient must:

Show and give the Medical Lane Pass at the lane entrance. The pass must be filled out correctly and stamped by COTUCO and the doctor, hospital, drugstore or laboratory where the patient was treated or bought the medicationDrive a vehicle with U.S. or Canadian plates, or be carried in an authorized car to use the Medical Lane from a hospital or doctorShow identification as passport, driver license or U.S. permanent resident cardPresent a document that endorses your medical consultation: doctor receipt, medical prescription, medical service appointment card, etc. In case you just get a prescription filled, you must present the drugstore receipt for a minimum purchase of $400.00 pesos in medicationOnly up to 5 people per vehicle will be able to enter to the Medical LaneThe Medical Lane Pass is valid for 15 days after the date it is given to the patient

¿CÓMO FUNCIONA EL CARRIL MÉDICO?El Carril o Línea Médica es un acceso a la garita internacional únicamente para extranjeros que utilizaron servicios de salud en Mexicali tales como hospitales, clínicas, doctores, farmacias o laboratorios que están afiliados al Carril Médico y entregan a sus pacientes un pase para que puedan regresar a Estados Unidos a través de este carril que reduce el tiempo de espera para cruzar la frontera. Para poder utilizar el Carril Médico el paciente deberá:

Presentar y entregar el Pase del Carril Médico en la entrada del carril llenado correctamente y sellado por COTUCO y el doctor, hospital, farmacia o laboratorio donde se atendió o compró medicamentoUtilizar un vehículo con placas americanas o canadienses, o ir en un vehículo de un hospital o doctor autorizado para cruzar por el Carril MédicoMostrar una identificación: pasaporte, licencia de manejo o tarjeta de residente permanente en EE.UU.Mostrar un documento que avale que fue a consulta médica como: recibo del doctor, tarjeta de citas, prescripción médica o un recibo de farmacia por compra mínima de $400.00 pesos en medicinasPodrán cruzar hasta 5 personas en el automóvilEl pase es válido por 15 días a partir de su fecha de entrega al paciente

WHAT TO DO IN MEXICALI?¿QUÉ PUEDO HACER EN MEXICALI? Mexicali has several cultural and recreational areas that offer to vi-sitors different activities to do. From art exhibitions in galleries and museums, parks, restaurants and entertainment, to extreme sports and ecotourism activities around the city, Mexicali has something for everyone.

RESTAURANTSMexicali is famous for its Chinese Food, which is part of the city’s heri-tage given for the Chinese community established since its foundation. There is more than 200 Chinese restaurants that are a clear example of the great taste of Mexicali’s Chinese food. To visit the Port of San Felipe is find a unique place in the world, it is to feel the warmth of the Sea of Cortez, home of thousands of species that is the world’s aquarium, as the French oceanographer Jacques Custeau named, it is to feel the greatness of the desert which is house of the flora and fauna of the region. We invite you to take a tour by San Felipe: a Paradise of unmatched natural wealth.

It is mandatory to walk by the board-walk and witnessing an unusual phe-nomenon in the wold the “Bajamar” (low tide), which consists of the re-moval of the tide up to 450 ft from the beach. This event just happen in 3 beaches in the world and you can wit-ness in San Felipe.

Only 8 miles from San Felipe is an awe-some place called the Valley of the Gi-ants, which is named after the species of giant cactus that are native of this region. This is an ideal place for photo-graphs due to the cactus offer an unfor-gettable scene by their height that is up to 56 ft.

In Rancho Puertecitos you will find nat-ural pools of sulphurous water, consid-ered medical, relaxing and healthing, which can only be seen when the tide lows. This place is located at 46 miles south of San Felipe.

In the nearby area known as “Valle Chi-co” are several cave paintings, which are part of the remains of the first settlers of this region.

Islote de Consag is an impressive rock lo-cated just 18 nautical miles west of San Felipe. It is the home of several seabirds as well as a unique area for those who enjoy sport fishing.

Visitar el Puerto de San Felipe es en-contrarse con un espacio poco común en el mundo, es sentir la calidez del Mar de Cortés, hogar de miles de especies que, según el investigador francés Jac-ques Cousteau, lo hacen merecedor del título del acuario del mundo, es sentir la grandeza del desierto que alberga flora y fauna endémica de la región. Lo invitamos a realizar un recorrido por San Felipe un paraíso de una riqueza natural inigualable.

Es obligatorio caminar por el malecón de San Felipe y ser testigo de un fenó-meno poco usual en el mundo, “baja-

mar”, el cual consiste en el alejamiento de la marea hasta por 150 metros de la playa; este suceso ocurre sólo en 3 playas en el mundo y usted puede ser testigo en San Felipe.

A solo 14 kilómetros de San Felipe se encuentra un impresionante lugar lla-mado el Valle de los Gigantes, el cual recibe su nombre por la especie de cardones gigantes que son nativos de esta región. Este lugar es ideal para to-marse fotografías, ya que los cardones ofrecen una panorámica inolvidable, ya que pueden llegar a medir hasta 17 metros de altura.

En el Rancho Puertecitos podrá encon-trar pozas de aguas sulfurosas, consi-deradas como medicinales, relajantes y curativas, las cuales solo pueden ser apreciadascuando baja la marea. Este lugar se ubica a 75 kilómetros al sur de San Felipe. En la cercana zona de “Valle Chico” se encuentran una serie de pintu-ras rupestres, las cuales son parte de los vestigios de los primeros pobladores de esta región.

El Islote de Consag es una impresionan-te formación rocosa que se encuentra a solo 18 millas náuticas al oeste de San Felipe, es el habitad de diversas aves marinas. También es un inigualable lu-gar para aquellos que gustan de la pesca deportiva.
