Parents were Richard Cleveland and Ann Cleveland Moved to
Fayetteville in 1841 Liked to hunt for animals When he was 14, he
moved to Clinton, NY FUN FACT: He was a New York Governor!

LIFE BEFORE HE WAS PRESIDENT Was a Democratic Visited his uncle
a lot Learned about Law Elected Supervisor of Second Ward In 1863
he became an assistant district attorney Became a lawyer Then
became sheriff of Erie County FUN FACT: Some people think the Baby
Ruth candy bar was named after Clevelands daughter, Ruth.

BEING PRESIDENT He fought corruption and wastefulness He hired
government based on ability He rejected a dishonest claim for
pensions He signed the inter-state commerce act He married Frances
Folsom and had 5 children He was elected again in 1892, and faced
economy issues Some banks started to fail, and employees refused to
work in the banks FUN FACT: Foster Cleveland was the only child
born in the white house.

LATER YEARS Left president job in 1897 and went to Princeton.
In 1901 he became trusted. He gave speeches at school. He enjoyed
time with his family. He suffered from heart trouble. He died on
June 24, 1908 His last words were I have tried so hard to do right.
FUN FACT: His vice president was Thomas Hendricks.
