I am a link in the Buddha’s golden chain of love that stretches around the world. I must keep my link bright and strong. I will try to be kind and gentle to every living thing and protect all who are weaker than myself. I will try to think pure and beautiful thoughts, to say pure and beautiful words, and to do pure and beautiful deeds, knowing that on what I do now depends not only my happiness or unhappiness, but also that of others. May every link in the Buddha’s golden chain of love become bright and strong, and may we all attain perfect peace.
New Year 2018
Happy New Year to all! Shinnen Akemashite Kudasai
We have made it to another year, 2018 - the year of the Dog. I hope that everyone will take some time to reflect back on the year we have had and at least begin to think about what kind of year we wish to see in 2018. It seems to me that there were a lot of diverse activities pulling me in different ways this past year. I apologize if my thoughts seemed just as scattered. The only thing I can positively take from all of this is that it often takes a lot of upheaval before one can make room for changes. I certainly hope changes are coming in 2018. My gratitude to everyone who has participated in making SACBC a dharma center for our members. If just one more person begins to come to church with an open mind and a hope to discover the message of the Buddha's Dharma, we will have accomplished our goal. It is important to remember that "success" in terms of sharing the Dharma does not depend on the number of people we count, but the ability to reveal to those who have, as the sutras say - "just a little bit of dirt (ignorance)", in their eyes. So don't get discouraged when we don't achieve what the popular opinion considers to be "success". Please enjoy yourself and your loved ones during this holiday period. The true test of our spiritual lives is in how it helps us to appreciate others. namoamidabutsu. CHimaka

11:15 am immediately following Ho-On-Ko Service
Each year, we hold a general meeting of our entire membership to conduct required on-going business such as approving our 2018 Budget. We need a quorum to convene this meeting so please either plan on attending or if you cannot attend, send in a proxy. Proxy forms have been sent out in the year end packet and are also available at our office.
