1st thing is 1st ….
The # 1 reason why you are going to KU is to get an education and to graduate!
Let’s Talk Priorities……
Becoming a member of the KU Greek Community can help
you along the way….and has many benefits.
▪ 76% of all Congressmen and Senators belong to a fraternity.
▪ Of the nation’s 50 largest corporations, 43 are headed by Greeks.
▪ 80% of Fortune 500 executives are fraternity members.
▪ A U.S. Government study shows that over 70% of all those who join a fraternity/sorority graduate, while under 50% of all non-fraternity/sorority persons graduate.
All but two Presidents since 1825 have been fraternity members.

Why Greek Life? What makes Greek life rewarding is that members are given the unique opportunity to interact with and lead their peers.
The other 155 hours are spent outside the class room…..
On average…
Why go Greek?
Let’s do the math….There are 168 total hours in a 7 day/week
Of the 168 hours…..per week~13 hours are spent in class (15 credit hours per
semester)
~39 hours are spent studying outside of class ~56 hours spent sleeping (8 hours/night)
108 total
168 – 108 = 60 hours a week
Why go Greek?
60 hours per week.....doing what?

The Positive Impact of the Greek Community….• Fraternities and sororities are often associated with hazing,
drinking and partying.
• Hazing scandals make headlines — and fundraisers and philanthropy events generally do not.
• Partying is not the reason to commit to Greek life.
• Students who join Greek organizations to build a network, make friends and develop leadership and social skills will likely graduate with useful qualities that will take them far in life.
• Great fraternity experience at KU! Learned a ton in those “60 hours” of free time a week!
• Of the six groomsmen in my wedding all but 1 were my fraternity brothers.
• Fraternity brothers now live all over the U.S., but we all still keep in touch on a regular basis.
• Biggest lesson learned ….how to work beside and get along with people from different backgrounds with different views….
• Still involved today, serving as the Board President and advisor.
