TIMELINE
DROUGHT CONDITIONS
CSD Board recently adopted a policy stating that areas designated for turf in new park designs will temporarily be installed with ½ of those areas in turf and ½ in mulch.
Once the Governor declares the drought is over, then CSD will convert the mulch areas to turf as designed.
Funding will be available for conversion.
Implemented at recently completedIsland Park and is slated for Horseshoe Park.
PLAYGROUND SURFACING
CSD traditionally designed playgrounds with a combination of rubber surfacing and wood fiber.
Recent product failures and expensive replacement costs have caused staff to reconsider the use of rubber surfacing.
Rubber surfacing is double the cost ofwood fiber.
Both surfaces meet current standardsfor playground safety.
Wood fiber will be used at George Park.
