Construction Methods of precast decks
In general terms the precast deck construction methods are divided in three groups:
Dividing the deck longitudinally, resulting in the assembly of T or U shaped beams whith a lenght corresponding to the span to be built.
Dividing the deck transverssally in segments. Full span deck corresponding to the total width and total lenght
of one deck span excluding any longitudinall or transversal division.

Underslung launching gantry
The Underslung Launching Gauntry LG is a high efficiency equipment specially designed to install precast concete segments in the box section deck and typically spans in the order of 30 to 35m. !!!!
When the span activities are repetitive the achieved performance using these Launching Gantries allow in a week to install all the segments
corresponding to 2 spans and in some cases even 2,5 spans. !!!!Each span built using the precast segments has a lenght corresponding
to the distance in between the center to center of columns.
How the segments are supported?
All the segments are supported by the Launching Gantry until
the prestressing is applied keepoing all segments together. !The segments are supported by
hydraulic ajustable supports equiped with teflon pads.

Main components:A simple solution!
The Underslung Launching Gantry is a simple solution to support the precast concrete segments, being made by two almost symmetrical
halves.Each half includes a main girder and two noses, supported at three
supporting brackets pairs connected to the columns. On the top of the two main girders travels a gantry crane that perform the segments assembling. On the main girder inner web outer surface there are several support beams where the precast segments are supported
awaiting to be adjusted and prestressed.

Some of the inovations introduced by STRUKTURAS:
!Independent main structure, connected only by the gantry crane, allowing to do transversal adjustments from a single track to double or even triple. !!!Implement hinge connections on the Underslung Launching Gantry making it possible to be used at decks with horizontal radius as small as 75m. !!!The hydraulic underslung support system where segments are supported allows correction of any misaligments resulting from lifting phase.

Overhead Launching Gantries !
Strukturas also supply the Overhead Launching Gantries, which generally include a overhead main structure of two trussed beams, which support the precast segment lifting winches, main supports installed on the columns, lifting yoke and also several hydraulic
systems that allow to launch and adjust the equipment !This kind of solution is especially suitable for situations where the space bellow the deck
is limited and also if there are significant variations in the deck width.

Segmental Form Traveller
The Segmental Form Traveller is an equipment designed to lift and assemble precast concrete segments at bridges and viaducts built by the cantilever method starting from the
pierhead. The segmental Form Traveller generally includes: steel
structure, working platform and ladders, anchor systems to the deck already finished, hydraulic equipment used to adjust
and level the Form Traveller itself and also the precast segment and even electric winches equiped with safety
brackes.

REAR TRUSS
The segment lifting unit
The segment lifting unit is a subset of the Segmental Form Traveller extremely important
because this is the unit performing the lifting and adjusting the
segment.
In general terms this segment lifting unit is composed by two
electrical winches, the front beam on which these winches are installed and corresponding working platforms, eletrical
cabinets and winches steel wires.
This unit also includes two lifting winches that suspend the segment and all the hydraulic equipment
that perform the adjusting horizontal movements
(transversally and longitudinally) and also adjust the segment
longitudinal slope.
The transversal slope adjustment is made by the winches.

Full Span Launching Method
The Full Span Launching Method equipments are used in the assembly of concrete precast decks spaning in between
25m and 35m and weights up to about 1800 ton.
This construction method is especially suited for projects that require minimal deck deformations and fast construcion.
The full Span Launching method is part of a wider set of devices that operate all together and that includes in general terms the Full Span Launching equipment it self, the gantry
crane/straddle carrier and the special multiwheeled transporters.
Depending on the distance between the prefabrication yard and the Full Span Launching equipment is possible to install 3 spans a day, however being possible to assemble 1 span at
every 4 hours.

The Gantry Cranes/Straddle Carriers !
The gantry cranes/straddle carriers equiped with steel or rubber tire
wheels are used at the precast yard to handle the precast full span decks
and load them to the special transporters. !

rubber tire wheels, with capacity to carry heavy loads over rought terrain. !The wheels can turn 90 degreed. !

Beam Launchers
Finding its application on one of the most commonly used construction methods for standard sized bridges, the BL
represents a cost efficient, fast and technically flexible solution. Strukturas provides the BL including the corresponding
transport trolleys on the bridge deck, to provide a comprehensive solution to our clients. !
Strukturas supply the Beam Launhcers including the corresponding precast concrete beams transport Trolleys
running on top of the deck. !The Beam Launchers allows to perform the assembly of the
concrete precast beams without the need of cranes, being specially suitable for bridges an viaducts with very high
columns, and difficult access conditions at ground level or when construction is made above water or when ground has
low bearing capacity. !Over 160 units supplied with capacities ranging between 30m
and 55m span and precast beam weights in between 60 ton and 250 ton.
