GEOPHYSICAL SURVEY
ON THE
MCKINLEY LAKE GRID(NEW NORTH/SOUTH GRID)
THACKERAY TOWNSHIP
LARDER LAKE MINING DIVISION
DISTRICT OF COCHRANE, ONTARIO
INTRODUCTION
The claim group consists of twenty-eight contiguous mining claims located in the central southeast corner of Thackeray Township. Access to the property is via the Garrison-Thackeray access road and secondary logging roads. (See Figures la and Ib).
Ownership of the claims has been attested to by Perrex Resources Inc. of 103 Government Road East, Kirkland Lake, Ontario, and was not independently ascertained by the writer.
On May 15, 1998, new North/South baseline was turned off at claim post No. 2 of claim L-982301 for a distance of 3,550 feet. Picket lines were established every 200 feet and stations cut and measured at 100 ft. intervals. All line cutting and chaining was per formed by Jim Hennessey and crew, two geophysics surveys were completed by Gwen Resources Ltd. All maps, report writing were completed by Miss Wendy K. Weller.

GENERAL GEOLOGY
The O.G.S. Report 165, titled Geology of Thackeray, Flliot.t, Tannahill and Dokis Townships, by L. S. Jensen indicates the prudoininale underlying bedrock is mainly basaltic and andesitic volcanic rocks of the Tholeiite Suite. These rocks are dark grey green iron rich and magnesium rich tholeiites, consisting of massive fine grained flows and

and pillowed lavas.
The trend of these flows appears to be northeast-southwest.
These lava flows are part of a large area of volcanism known as the Abitibi Greenstone Belt. This belt is part of a large east trending synclinorium. This synclinorium occurs between two major fault structures, the Destor-Porcupine Fault occurring on the northern edge and the Larder Lake Fault on the southern boundary. (See Figure le - Table of Lithology).
TOPOGRAPHY
There are 3 main lakes in this survey, in the north-east corner is McKinley Lake, in the south-west corner is Vinkle Lake and the south-east corner is Armitage Lake.
The terrain is flat to steep sloping glacial eskers. The vegetation throughout the claim block is jackpine replant to poplar, birch and alder.
INSTRUMENTATION
Magnetometer Survey:
This system uses a backward motion of spinning protons of a hydrogen atom within a fluid of hydrogen and carbon. These spinning magnetic protons are caused to have two opposite poles by applying a magnetic field using a current within a coil of wire. When the current is stopped, the protons precess about the earth's magnetic field and in turn generate a small current in the wire. This frequency of precession is proportional to the earth's total magnetic field.
This instrument is read directly in gammas which is the absolute value of the earth's total field for that station.
Electromagnetic Survey:
The VLF-EM method uses as a source, several of the main submarine communications transmitters in the 15 to 25 kHz band found throughout the world.
The submarine communication radio waves travel in a single mode parallel to the surfaces of the earth along the earth-air interace.
VLF instruments are capable of picking up any structures that change the direction of the waves by measuring the tilt angle being jzero on flat ground, but when a conductor is present, the tilt angle will acquire a finite value. The direction of tilt indicates the direction of the conductor.

Calculations of such parameters as depth, depth extent, dip and width of the conductors is very minimal.
The VLF easily illustrates the location of the upper limit of dipping structures which can be seen or plotted as VLF profiles as areas of greatest change in ti'lt angle per unit of distance.
The instrument used for this survey was a Geonics EM-16 Unit. The sensitivity of this unit is 1/6 for the inphase and W for the qua drature. The iperating frequency for the EM-16 from 15.25 kHz and the station is made by plug-in units.
Further information on the VLF and the magnetometer can be found in the back of this report on the Technical Data and Assessment forms.
PRESENTATION AND DISCUSSION OF RESULTS
Detail Magnetometer Survey:
The field data is presented on two maps at a horizontal scale of one inch to two hundred feet, map numbers ML/98 /magi and
The magnetic data is illustrated as isomagnetic contours (contour Intervals 100 gammas) on two maps of corrected magnetic values recorded at each station,
The magnetic relief ranged from 61073 gammas to 57,848 gammas. The magnetic survey shows a east to northeast trend over the entire group.
In the north half of the group a very large magnetic high band crosses McKinley Lake in a northeast direction.
The high magnetic band is interrupted in the north east side of the lake by a smaller low magnetic band in a east direction.
In the south end of the group shows a large high magnetic band crossing Vinkle Lake in a east to northeast direction that is mirrored by two smaller low magnetic bands.
The claim bjock is situated in the Munroe esker system and there are no outcrop showings to hejtp define the host rock.
Electromagnetic Survey:
The field data is presented on the maps ML/98/vlfl and ML/SS/vlfZ, at a scale of one inch to two hundred feet, found at the back of this report.
In this survey six distinctive anomalies were found.
-4-
Cl - Crosses 3000W 850S to PL3400W 960S. The area is flat wet spruce bogg,
C2 - Crosses PL200W 2710S to PL800W 2830S.This area is flat to gentle sloping glacial eskers covered in jackpine replant.
C3 - Crosses: PL1800W 1890S to PL2600W 2090S.This area is also glacial esker covered in jack pine replant.
C4 - Crosses PL2800W 1850N to PL3200W 1770N. This area is covered in wet spruce bogg.
C5 - Crosses PL2400W 1100N to PL3000W 930N. This area is also wet spruce bogg.
C6 - Crosses PLOOO 2590N to PL800W 2420N.This area is dry flat esker covered in jackpine replant.
Due to where the McKinley Lake grid is located in the Munroe Esker System, it is hard to determine most of the origins of these anomalies.
OBSERVATIONS AND CONCLUSIONS
The magnetic survey show a contact between two rock types. The important one type being the area of low magnetic intensity.
By reversing the original grid more vi f anomalies were discovered. All the contacts run in the same direction as the magnetic trend.
Due to the depth of the overburden in the area an I.P. survey is going to be run over the new north/south grid, to help define the rock types.
