About Gist Central Library
The GIST Central Library and Information centre is an education resource center with multiple
resources which cater to the needs of the students, faculty and staff. The Print Journals, E-Journals,
Project Reports, Video Lectures, C.Ds, Newspapers and Magazines etc., promote awareness and
profundity among erudite. The central library has more than 32255 books which comprise academic,
competitive and general books. Apart from subject related books, the library also has a good
collection of general books in variegated fields like :

Fiction
Biographies & Autobiographies : Relating to great Scientists
Personality development (Careers, Placement & Group discussions)
Self help (puzzles, brainteasers)
Spiritual
Philosophical
English Language and Training (ELT)
Ethics & Human values
And also books like Dictionaries, Encyclopedias and Almanacs & Handbooks.
All students, faculty and staff members of the Institute are entitled to make use of the Library
facilities. Initially setup in 2008, the Central Library is innovated in 2019. The college has a good
central library building with an area of 613.12 Sqm.
Library is automated, consists of AutoLib Library Management Software and OPAC. Learning
resources were barcoded for issue and returns.
Membership of DELNET (Developing Library Network), J-Gate e-Journals, J-Gate e-Books, and
Subscription of N-List, these we can access through Remote access.
Audio & Video course material Collection.
Initiation of the new students "Comprehensive Optimum Utilisation" Awareness & Orientation
Program conducted by library personnel regarding various facilities, resources and services available
the library for the first year - B.Tech, and Diploma course students.
Comprehensive Optimum utilisation program - will be conducted periodically to motivate all
members (Students/Faculty/Staff) in order to help them utilise Library resources in academic,
research and career aspects

MISSION
Library serves as a resource center and aims to develop a comprehensive collection of books and
journals useful for students and faculty of the college and provides an efficient dissemination of
knowledge.
VISION
To provide a student-centered learning environment that facilitates transference of
information and to cater to the needs of its users to access it.
The Library intends to incorporate the latest technology and adopt user friendly approach
towards students and faculty.
The Library intends to offer comprehensive services related to dissemination of knowledge.
OBJECTIVES:
These goals and objectives are accomplished through following actions:
Identify, acquire, organize, preserve, and provide access to pertinent recorded knowledge to
all users engaged in learning, teaching and research activities in the college.
Right information to the right reader at a right time in right format.
Foster idealism and strengthen the struggling aspirations of human spirit among readers
Converting the library into an intellectual workshop
Offer formal and informal instruction to promote information literacy.
Communicate library services to raise awareness and promote utilization of library resources
effectively.
Convert the potential users into habitual users

Central Library Resources & Services
Central Library orientation program is organized every year for new comers at the beginning
of the academic year.
The following information will be provided for new comers in the central library orientation
program.
1. Brief introduction about library
2. Brief introduction about our college and what are the courses we run.
3. Students Introduction and Central Library staff introduction.
4. What are the resources available for students in the Central Library
5. How students can make use of central library resources.
6. How central library circulation system works and how students can barrow their books,
borrowing periods.
7. Reference service for students .
8. Central library rules and regulations and other relevant information.
Books: The Gist Central Library has successfully built up a comprehensive collection of more than
32,255 books with 4,230 Titles covering different branches of knowledge
MEMBERSHIP PROCEDURE:
Give details in membership form available at Library circulation counter.
Hand over at circulation counter.
Barcode based ID will be issued to issue/return the library books
Computerized issue/return of books: To facilitate faster issue and return of books and for easy
tracing of the books issued, the college library books are being issued/returns through the Bees
campus soft with bar coded technology with AutoLib Software.
CIRCULATION RULES:
Books are issued and renewed at the circulation counter.
Borrowers should Show his/her identity Barcode ID.
For renewal books must be brought to the circulation counter in the person. To avoid overdue
charges (Re.1/- per day) books should be return before the due date mentioned on the date
slip
The reader should check the book thoroughly for missing pages, chapters, pictures etc, while
borrowing the book.
No book in the damage condition will be accepted from the reader mutilated or spoiled books
will have to the replaced by the borrower.
Once books issued can’t be returned back on the same day.

Sundays & Holidays - 9:30 AM to 12:00 PM

LOSS OF DAMAGE OF BOOKS AND BARCODE LABELS:
Damage or loss of books must be reported immediately, for the rules for replacement of loss
book kindly contact the circulation section.
If any book damage or loss the concerned shall be liable to submit the latest edition of book
Any tampering or removal of the barcode label will result in s fine of Rs.50/-
OPAC (Online public access catalogue): All the library transactions are computerized and On-Line
Public Access Catalogue has been introduced. Users can search the books details via author wise
search, title wise search, subject wise search, and how many copies are available in a particular title.
Reference services: We provide books to refer inside the library. One copy of all the titles has kept
for reference. Apart from that we have good collection of reference books like dictionaries,
Biography, Atlases thesaurus, some standard technical titles. Readers may approach the Reference
Desk for information or any assistance in the use of the Library Collections and Services.
Reading Halls: The Reading Hall consists of comfortable tables & chairs with a seating capacity for
150 users.
Periodical Section: Contains both Technical and Non-Technical Journals of National and
International origin are displayed and kept available for the reference of students and faculty
members.
Question paper service: Central Library has also made provisions for students to refer old question
papers for preparing their examinations. Students are allowed to use old question papers in the
central library, and also providing e-versions of the question papers in the Central Library
Project report service: One copy of Students projects of all previous years is maintained in library
and providing for reference.
Overnight Barrowing facility for faculty and Students:
The Central Library extending overnight borrowing facility for teaching and students community,
this service is provided when the borrowing limits of the faculty and students exceeds. The
borrower has to return the books immediately after a day or two. This facility helped many students
and teachers when there is an urgent need of library materials.

Book Bank Facility
Book Bank facility is one of the important facilities for students coming from underprivileged
section of the society. Library provided book bank facility for SC students, books will be issued at
the beginning of the each semester and collects back after their completion of the examinations.
Students who have come from underprivileged section of the society have taken this benefit and
excelled in their academics.
CD-Rom Service: Our CDs collection includes purchased CDs, CDs accompanied with purchased
books and journals, some complementary CDs. CDs will provide to refer through library systems as
well as issue to home.
Photocopy and printing services: (Timings: 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM)
The Central Library offers photocopying service to all its members.
The copying charges are Re. 1.00 per both-sides
Journals: Gist Central Library subscribes 50 Print Journals and e-journals in different fields through
J-Gate, DELNET, N-List and J-gate e-books data bases
Videos: Central Library access the educational video for students through NPTEL.
CD-ROM: The Central Library has around 2,344 cds Database of different branches.
Magazines: Central Library subscribes to 15 Magazines in English and Telugu.

News papers are key source of information on current affairs. It helps one to keep abreast with
current information. Help us to enhance our knowledge on various issues. Good source of
information on sports and entertainment. Helps us to cultivate reading habits. Helps us to have

Clipping Services: Important and relevant information published in dailies will be displayed on
library notice board regularly and the same will be filed once in a month
Digital Library: Online access to the e-resource of the Digital
Library portals J-Gate, DELNET, N-List and J-gate e-Books.
These e-resources can be access in remotely i.e anywhere in campus
or off campus.
Internet facility: Library is provided with internet facility at the speed of 100 mbps.
Local area network: The Library has LAN facility.
Weeding out policy
The Central Library does not have a separate written policy on weeding off library books, every year
at the time of stock verification brittle, old and unused books will be identified and prepare a subject
– wise report with cost analysis and write off the same in consultation with library advisory
committee.
Best Practices Receiving Suggestions and Feed Back
We at the GIST Central Library have the practice of the interacting with students to improve the
existing facilities, when ever students approach us for purchasing new titles, the library has given at
most importance to procure the titles. Central Library receives feedback from outgoing students by
interacting with them. New formal suggestion box have been put in place to receive suggestions and
feedback from students and teaching community.

Central Library Rules
User's Co-operation is solicited in the following matters:
1. Silence is to be strictly observed.
2. Readers are advised to Scan/Signature e-Gate/Gate Register at the entrance.
3. Exhibit your ID cards to avail library services.
4. Keep your personal belongings outside the library.
5. Don’t drag the Chairs and tables and they should not be moved or shifted from their position.
6. Mobile phones are strictly prohibited.
7. Books can be borrowed for 14 days only. A fine of Rs: 1/- will be levied after due date.
8. Borrowers are responsible for loss or damage of books
9. Defects found while borrowing books should be brought immediately to the notice of staff on
duty
10. Reference books will not be issued outside the library.
11. Utilize the digital library in a proper way for accessing e-resources.
12. The names of the violators of library rules will be forwarded to higher authorities.
