Expected Radiation Exposure Levels from Activated Local Dump
George Kharashvili, Radiation Control
Expected radiation exposure levels at beamline level 5 minutes after 5-day long irradiation of the local dump for 20 hours per day with 100-nA, 3.35-GeV e- beam:
Expected radiation exposure levels in the area adjacent to the local dump –This area will have to be accessed in order to replace the cartridge.
Expected radiation exposure levels at the floor level 5 minutes after 5-day long irradiation of the local dump for 20 hours per day with 100-nA, 3.35-GeV e- beam:
Expected radiation exposure levels 1m above the top platform 15 minutes after 5-day long irradiation of the local dump for 20 hours per day with 100-nA, 3.35-GeV e- beam:
Conclusions:
• In general, radiation safety issues are expected to be comparable to a typical high current experiment;
• High Radiation Areas expected around the dump – physical access controls may be required;
• Radiation areas are expected in several meter radius around the local dump at the floor level and the top platform level;
• Routine access to target chamber at both platform levels will likely require a standing RWP.
