TOYO INK SC HOLDINGS CO., LTD. was established on January 15, 1907 as Toyo Ink Mfg.
Co., Ltd., a manufacturer of printing inks. Rooted in the printing ink business, we have
expanded to the field of high-performance chemicals via specialty materials such as
functional pigments and precisely designed resins in the more than 100 years since the
company was set up. Then, on April 1, 2011, aiming for new challenges and progress, and
imbued with a strong sense of volition to implement a second launch, we moved to a
holding company structure and changed the company name to its current one. At present,
the Toyo Ink Group encompasses consolidated subsidiaries and affiliated companies in 18
countries employing approximately 7,000 persons.
Since its establishment, the Toyo Ink Group has wished to contribute to improving everyday
lives through the development of colors and functions. Based on our corporate policy of “A
company creating new value for human culture throughout the world,” we have always
endeavored to cooperate with local communities, operating a safe business, eliminating
pollution, providing safe products, and ensuring health in our business activities. While being
aware of their roles as members of the local community, going forward, each and every
employee will strive to create lifestyle value for the new age and to contribute to the
affluence and culture of people worldwide by providing sophisticated technologies and
material quality.

The Toyo Ink Group shifted to a holding company system in April 2011 as a new corporate governance structure, and
established two core operating companies, namely Toyo Ink Co., Ltd. and Toyochem Co., Ltd., with Toyo Ink SC Holdings
Co., Ltd. taking overall responsibility for the management of the Group. In April 2012, the Group built Toyocolor Co., Ltd. as
the third core operating company. Regarding this reform as the Second Foundation, we are devoting ourselves every day to
achieving our vision of evolving into a globally useful specialty chemical manufacturer.
During the 174th term (fiscal year ended March 2012), the operating environment remained severe in the first half, reflecting
difficulties in procuring raw materials in the wake of the Great East Japan Earthquake, constraints on production activity due
to uncertainty regarding electric power supply, and weaker consumer confidence. In the second half, the economy slowed
globally, with even emerging countries—the drivers of the world economy—experiencing an easing of growth. This reflected
the reemergence of disrupted supply chains due to the flooding in Thailand and the fiscal crisis in Europe, which became
progressively more serious. The persistent strength of the yen was a further factor. In this difficult environment, the Toyo Ink
Group promoted three fundamental policies under “SCC-II Renaissance Plan”, our medium-term management plan,: building
a growth engine, achieving monozukuri (manufacturing) innovation, and taking full advantage of the holding company
structure. Nonetheless, net sales declined, as did operating income, recurring income, and net income.
The 175th term (fiscal year ending March 2013) is the second year of the medium-term management plan for the Toyo Ink
Group. We will continue to show our spirit in steadily pursuing the three fundamental policies described above to achieve
our medium-term management plan, without viewing the current operating environment negatively, although economic
conditions will remain challenging into the foreseeable future.
As we pursue this course, we hope that we can continue to count on your support and understanding.

Business Domains and Technology Platforms
Business Domains
We have established four new business domains to encourage new product and new business growth
and to continually produce new ideas for the business, which is one of the fundamental policies of the
SCC-II medium-term management plan (April 2011 – March 2014). We aim to recognize business areas
that have not been captured by existing domains and define them as the starting point for strategy
planning and execution, as well as to share aspects of the future and the direction the TOYO INK Group
should take toward the ideals of the SCC2017 and convey them to society.
Technology Platforms
At TOYO INK Group, we process a group of characteristic materials, such as pigments and resins, into
new products. In addition, we possess a wide range of technologies capable of developing unique
products to meet customer needs, from materials to finished articles, including printing and coating,
or converting products by applying films. The three stages of the new technology platform
demonstrate the technologies we possess, while providing continuous support for our progress in the
new business domains.
