Dear Parents,

The last two weeks have been very busy for staff and students

at St Patrick’s with our St Patrick’s Day celebrations,

swimming carnival and a number of incursions and excursions all happening in a short space of

time.

Aside from the obvious enjoyment of the children at events such as the swimming

carnival and St Patrick’s Day, it was a real opportunity to have

parents involved. The parent helpers at the swimming carnival and on St Patrick’s Day really

contributed to the success of these days and certainly made

organisers feel their efforts were

appreciated. THANK YOU!!

Special thanks are also extended to the teachers for their generous

amount of time and effort placed into these events. The team work shown enabled the Carnival to

run smoothly. The students need to be congratulated for their

wonderful participation and behaviour on the day. Each and every competitor gave of their

best and the improvement and courage to have a go was a true

reflection of an all-round team effort. They did themselves, their parents, teachers and the school

proud!

I am sure the children representing St Patrick’s at the interschool carnival will enjoy the

benefits of training over the next

personal bests on the day.

I would particularly like to thank Mr Yorke, Mrs D’Alessandro and our wonderful parent helpers for

their commitment to early morning training sessions and, of

course, Mr Yorke once again for his superb organisation of the

carnival.

Results are published in this

newsletter along with some

photos of the action on the day.

“Easter is the invulnerable tale of

utter selflessness where at an

inestimable cost God did for us

what He did not need done for

Himself. And that kind of ‘doing’

happens every day.”

Scholastic Book Orders

4 YEAR OLD KINDY 2019: Do you have a child who was born between 1 July 2014 and 30 June 2015? If you

do, and you would like them to attend 4 Year Old Kindy in 2019, you need to submit

an Enrolment Form to the office, along with your child’s birth certificate, immunisation record and Baptism certificate. An

Application Fee of $55 is also payable.

Please note that if you have a child who currently attends 3 Year Old Pre Kindy, and you haven’t yet submitted an enrolment

form for 4 Year Olds, you still need to do so if your intention is for your child to continue

on at St Patrick’s next year (NB: Pre Kindy is the only point at which you need to re-enrol for the following year).

3 YEAR OLD PRE KINDY 2019 Our Pre Kindy runs every Thursday—morning sessions and full day sessions are

available. To join our 2019 class, your child needs to have been born between 1 July 2015 and 30 June 2016. Children born

from February to June need to have turned 3 years of age before they can start attending.

If your child would like to order from the

latest Scholastic Book Club catalogue, please ensure that the order has been received by

Administration by Friday 23rd March. Thank you to Emilia Pinzone (Scott’s mum)

who has generously volunteered to coordinate the orders for this year, once

again.

Easter Liturgy

Next Thursday 29th March at 9.00am,

students will be taking part in our Easter Liturgy, under the guidance of Mr Hayden.

Parents are welcome to attend this very special and reverent liturgy that will portray

the Easter story.

If anyone has any palm leaves that they can donate to make the liturgy an authentic experience, please drop them

into the office.

School Fee Reminder

By now all families should have received

school fees and the Family Details sheets. Please note that the Fee Payment Advice

(the tear off section at the bottom of the fee statement) and the Family Details sheets need to be returned to the school office prior

to the Easter break.

Pupil Free Days

Don’t forget that our Easter Break from

school is from Friday 30th March to Tuesday 3rd April (inclusive).

The end of Term One for students is Thursday 12th April. Friday 13th April is a

Professional Development day for all staff; therefore, the school office will be closed at

this time. Students return to school for Term Two on

Tuesday 1st May.

Second Hand Uniforms

Watch out for the Second Hand Uniform

Table next week from 27th to 29th March just outside the entry to the school office.

For those new to St Patrick’s, winter uniform is worn from the beginning of Term 2.

Fifth Week of Lent

Ditosa, a young

girl from Mozambique,

went to live with her grandmother after her parents

died of AIDS-related illnesses.

Featured in Project

Compassion during 2013, Ditosa faced a challenging future with food scarcity, little

education and few job prospects. Ditosa and her grandmother found

support through the Caritas Australia supported Matuba Children’s Centre. Ditosa has now graduated from school

and hopes to go to university and

secure an even brighter future.

Please donate to Project Compassion 2018 and help young women like

Ditosa have a just future.

A just future starts with your support! You can donate through Project

Compassion boxes/envelopes, visit www.caritas.org.au/projectcompassion

or phone 1800 024 413. Emotional Resilience

Project Compassion

- Best Emotional Resilience Tip -

Breathe—easier said than done when the tensions are high. Choose and practise a

technique. Trace up and down fingers—in on the way up, and out on the way down. Teach children to breathe in and exhale like they’re

blowing a bubble.

(bestprograms4kids.com) At St Pat’s we teach these simple steps for

calming down through the “Highway Heroes Program”.

Year 4 Students Going Places The Year 4 students had an enriching life experience last

week when they attended the “Seton Experience Day” to find out what it is like to be a secondary school student.

The children spent their day at Seton College, participating in a range of fun educational activities from a number of the

specialist teaching areas.

As the photos to the left attest, the students also appreciated that High School is not always purely fun and games!

Congratulations to Thomas

Wilson who came second in the Under 10s state

Waterski tournament recently.

Thomas will now be

representing Western Australia in the Under 10s

Waterskiing—Slalom and Trick Ski divisions.

P & F News Wow we have had a very busy fortnight.

Firstly, thank you very much for all those parents that assisted with the St Patrick’s Day celebration

last Friday as without your support it would not have been such a wonderful day for our children.

It was great to see so many parents assisting the P&F prepare and serve up the children’s lunch. It was also lovely to see those parents who came

along to enjoy lunch with the children. From the smiles on the children’s faces they had a

wonderful day celebrating our name sake.

A big thank you again to Nicole D'Alessandro who

held another meditation session on Tuesday night. This time it was a deeply relaxing guided meditation—Yoga Nidra. Again, it was a great turn out and we look forward to another session in Term 2.

Congratulations to all the children for their tremendous spirit and determination at their

swimming carnivals on Wednesday. All the training you have been doing over the last few weeks really paid off. It was fantastic to watch, and you made us all very proud!

Hot Cross Buns to raise funds for Caritas – Project Compassion

You would have all received order forms for Hot Cross Buns this week. From every 6 pack purchased $2 will go towards Project

Compassion. A reminder if you are going to place an order, the forms and money are

due back to the office tomorrow (Friday).

School Disco

Notes will come home tomorrow for the school disco which is being held on Friday 6th April. This is always an amazing night for

the children, they love it and look forward to it every year. Could you please make sure

to fill in the forms and return with monies to the school by Wednesday 4th April.

Gilbert’s Fresh Hilton – Support Our School Program St Patrick’s Primary has just joined Gilbert’s Fresh Hilton, Support Our School Program (SOS). This is an easy fund raiser for the school that does not involve coupons, stickers or

vouchers to collect; there is no collating or cutting; and it runs all year round. What is involved? If you shop at Gilbert’s Fresh Hilton, we ask that next time you are at the

checkout please request to sign up to the program and nominate St Patrick’s Primary School. You will then receive a card which is scanned each time you shop at the store. 1% from your shop is automatically donated to the customer’s nominated school, which in our

case is St Patrick’s Primary School.
