Did You Know? Bugs Bunny
· Bugs’ name came from his
animator. In 1938, Ben “Bugs” Hardaway was redesigning a new rabbit character. A fellow employee casually referred to the drawing as “Bug’s Bunny” (which was written above the illustration) and the name stuck ever since.
· Bugs Bunny was the first
cartoon character to ever appear on a stamp.
· Bugs Bunny’s carrot-chewing
stance came from ‘It Happened One Night. There is a scene with Clark Gable leaning against a fence and eating carrots while talking with his mouth full.
· Charlie Chaplin inspired Bugs
Bunny’s personality.
· As of Jan. 2013, he has
appeared in more films than any other cartoon character. More than 175 films, to be exact.
Lion Neil was presented with his 10 year membership pin at the last meeting by

LIONS PRAYER
Will anyone be happier because we passed this way? Will anyone remember that we spoke to them today? Will a single heart rejoice over what we did or said?
Will one whose hopes were vanished now take courage and look ahead?
Will we waste the day or use it? Will it be well or poorly spent?
Will we leave a trail of kindness, or a scar of discontent?
As we close our eyes in slumber, do we think of God and say,
we have earned one more tomorrow by what we did today.
AMEN
My husband was waterskiing when he fell into the river. As the boat circled to pick him up, he noticed a hunter sitting in a duck boat in the reeds. My husband put his hands in the air and joked, “Don’t shoot!” The hunter responded, “Don’t quack.”
**** My high school assignment was to ask a veteran about World War II. Since my father had served in the Philippines during the war, I chose him. After a few basic questions, I very gingerly asked, “Did you ever kill anyone?” Dad got quiet. Then, in a soft voice, he said, “Probably. I was the cook.”
****
As a Speech therapist, I was working with a preschooler on body-part identification and the k sound. To that end, I had him use Play-Doh to make a sculpture of me. “Is that my neck?” I asked, trying to get him to repeat the word. “No, that’s your chin,” he said. He added more Play-Doh. “Is that my neck?” I asked. “No, that’s your other chin.”
****
It’s amazing how a person can compliment and insult you at the same time. Recently, when I greeted my coworker, she said, “You look so gorgeous, I didn’t recognize you.”
