What is a folk tale?
A folk tale is a short story that grandparents used to tell the children long time ago.
Folk tales talk about good boys and girls that suffer bad experiences until they find the solution to the big problems they have.

IMPORTANT AUTHORS
The Brothers Grimm, Jakob and Wilhelm were German. They published collections of folk tales and fairy tales in Europe. They become famous and today millions of persons read their beautiful stories.
• Many of their stories were only for adults, not for children, so many experts criticized them. Soon, they published a collection of 50 stories for children that became really popular.
• Charles Perrault was a French writer, he wrote many interesting stories you enjoy now: Little Red Ridding Hood, Sleeping Beauty, Puss in Boots, Cinderella, Bluebeard, etc.
• One of the most beautiful versions of Cinderella was written by Charles Perrault. The tale was very popular because Perrault included the pumpkin, the fairy-godmother and Cinderella used glass slippers.
