any size garden
Heliconias white Heliconias are very popular tropical landscaping plants with some
commonly known as parrot’s beak, lobster claw, and crab claw heliconias. They range in colours - mostly red, yellow or orange with fewer cultivars in soft pinks and greens. Heliconias love warm, humid conditions and ample water. They grow in full sun to part shade and tend to grow taller in shadier spots in the garden. Flowers produce nectar, which attracts the Olive-backed Sunbird. Some of the standout varieties are:
Heliconia rostrata – Red and yellow pendant Heliconia orthotricha cv. Eden Pink – Soft pink and green upright Heliconia chartacea cv. Sexy Pink – Pink and yellow pendant Heliconia stricta cv. Jamaica Dwarf – Red and green upright Heliconia psittacorum cv. Sassy – Orange and pink upright
