Green Bay Metro, One Day Bus Pass
We thank you in advance for your consideration of this

PRAYER CORNER Father in heaven,
our hearts desire the warmth of your love
and our minds are searching
for the light of your Word.
Increase our longing for Christ our Savior
and give us strength to grow in love,
that the dawn of His coming
may find us rejoicing in His presence
and welcoming the light of truth.
~Divine Office, 1st Sunday of Advent
A NOTE FROM YOUR LITURGIST AND SACRISTAN Praise the Lord! Advent is here…a time to slow down when the world says to speed up! It is a time of looking forward, a time
of preparing, a time of waiting in joyful hope for the coming of our Savior, Jesus Christ! It is a time of prayer and penance, a time to
cleanse our hearts and make more room for Him in our lives. In the words of Cardinal Dolan, we are called to spiritually prepare for the
three comings of Christ during Advent: His coming in History (His Nativity), Mystery (His coming to us daily in prayer, His Word and
the Sacraments) and Majesty (at the end of time).
Think of how much we “do” to prepare for Christmas…cards, cleaning, cooking, decorating, shopping, traveling, baking … in
the midst of all the “doing” we sometimes forget about the “being.” How are we being present to our family, co-workers, the store
cashier, a friend in need of a listening ear? How are we stretching our hearts by putting into action the corporal and spiritual works of
mercy? How are we being present to God in prayer and meditation? The Church, in Her wisdom, has given us 4 weeks to prepare for the
great celebration of Christmas. How will you prepare?
This year, we will be offering The Magnificat Advent Companion for $1 donation to help you better enter into this Advent
Season. They will be located in the Resurrection Room. This little companion contains daily reflections, the blessing of an Advent
Wreath, Christmas Tree and Manger, praying the O Antiphons, and other various Advent prayers. I think you will find this to be a helpful
tool during this 4 week pilgrimage. The greatest gift we could give Him this Christmas is ourselves…Advent is a time to prepare this gift
for Him. I pray this Advent Companion will help you slow down and enjoy the anticipation of the great love exchange between you and
Christ, heart for heart. Jenny Johns, Liturgist and Sacristan
DIGNITY OF LIFE GIVING TREE The Cathedral Giving Tree is now on display through
Sunday, December 20th in the Wycislo Lobby and is
decked out with ornaments with attached gift suggestions.
Gifts will be for the Love Life Program, St. John’s
Homeless Shelter guests and a single mom with three
children. You need not wrap these gifts, just put the
ornament in a bag with the gift and place under the tree.
Thank you for caring!
ST. VINCENT DE PAUL PANTRY As Christmas approaches and we ponder the many
blessings in our life that the Lord has given us. Let us also
remember those who go without. Our own Cathedral
St. Vincent de Paul food pantry is getting low. Would you
consider donating dry or non-perishable goods to help
replenish supplies? Items can be placed in baskets located
in all entry ways. Items needed: Cereal, soup, tuna,
vegetables/fruit in cans, crackers (saltines and graham),
peanut butter, jelly/jam, box macaroni and cheese, dry pasta
or rice, canned baked beans or stew, fruit roll-ups, cookies,
granola bars, cans of prepared pasta, spaghetti or macaroni,
box of prepared meals, pancake mix, and maple syrup.
Please do not donate old, expired food items. No
perishable items or glass jars. In gratitude!!
The Dignity of Life Committee
St. Vincent de Paul Cathedral Conference
RIDE BOARD!! As requested a ride board has been installed. Look for it in
between the BWC exit doors. What is this ride board? We
have received calls from parish members or members of
families requesting rides to Mass. It is our hope that you,
our generous parish family, could help provide a corporal
work of mercy by providing rides for our members who
otherwise would have no other way of coming to Mass.
How will this work? If you or a family member is looking
for a ride simply place your request on the ride board using
the push pins provided. Don’t forget your contact
information ie: phone number and address. It is our hope
that someone who lives near you would answer your
request. Thank you for your generosity!
POPE FRANCIS’
MONTHLY PRAYER INTENTIONS Universal: That we may be open to personal encounter and
dialogue with all, even those whose convictions differ from
our own.
Evangelization: That pastors of the Church, with profound
love for their flocks, may accompany them and enliven
their hope.
BISHOP RICKEN’S
MONTHLY PRAYER INTENTION That our departed loved ones experience the fullness of joy
in Christ’s presence and that the saints walk with us as we
mature in holiness.
YEAR OF CONSECRATED LIFE "It is not what you are, nor what you have been, that God
looks at with his merciful eyes, but what you would wish to
be."
—The Cloud of Unknowing
TO OUR PARISH FAMILIES
WITH YOUNG CHILDREN We welcome you to the celebration of the Mass, where we
receive Jesus Christ in the Eucharist. The word Eucharist
means “thanksgiving” and as you celebrate with us and
your children, we thank you for your presence among us.
Children are especially close to the heart of Jesus so don’t
feel you have to stifle those wiggles and giggles in God’s
house.
Children learn liturgical behavior by copying you, so
quietly explain the parts of the Mass, sing the songs, and
participate as best you can.
If you need to leave Mass to calm your child, please feel
free to do so but please come back.
Remember, the way that we welcome children in church
directly effects their faith, what they think about the Mass,
and by extension, Christ. Let them know that they are at
home in this sacred gathering.
TO MEMBERS OF OUR PARISH A smile and a word of encouragement are a joy to parents
with small, active children. Let them know that they are
welcome here.
