First Baptist
CROSSINGS July 2020
As I write this article, we are doing our week of summer lunches. The number of lunches we have served has been significantly larger than
the first few weeks. Thanks to Judy McDowell and Linda Swartz for their leadership, and thanks to the volunteers, including our youth group, who have served. You have truly been the hands and feet of Jesus to our community.
The list of cancellations continues to grow, including our trip to the Christian Activity Center. While we may not go as a church, they can still use our help. They need some willing people to come down to mow and trim. If you're interested, please contact me. They also need masks, hand sanitizer and gloves. If you would like to help, bring items to the church on Thursday or Friday afternoons and mark them for the CAC.
Now that we are moving into phase 4 of the state reopening plan, we are able to have gatherings up to 50 people, which means we can resume services with some restrictions. However, we have not had people volunteer to fill needed roles in order to make reopening possible. We have several vital roles and they are all simple functions. If you would like to help make reopening happen, contact me and I can
give you a rundown of what is needed. When we have met all of the guidelines for reopening and we have the needed people in place, we will announce a date for in-person services. We will continue to stream services even after we reopen, so anyone who is at risk or is uncomfortable gathering can continue to worship with us.
Many thanks to Jeremy Vang and Adam Krause for all their work in making our streaming services happen each week. They have worked very hard to prepare and present high-quality worship services. I appreciate all they have done and continue to do.
Please stay tuned for updates and stay safe and healthy. Wear those masks and wash your hands! In Christ, Brian “God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble.” – Psalm 46:1 NIV

YOUTH News & views
Meet one of our youth: My name is Lindsay Weiss and I am going to be a senior in high school. I have been a member of First Baptist
Church for a long time and I have been in FBC youth group since I was in 6th grade.
I enjoy coming to youth group because it is a fun environment that combines learning about Jesus with fun things like games and trips. My favorite trip that we take every year is SKWIM, which is a youth weekend get-away in January that combines skiing and swimming.
My favorite hobbies are ice skating and music. I enjoy singing and playing guitar, and I also love being in theatre productions. That is another I also love about youth group; the Christmas play we do each is year always fun to participate in. Meet one of our youth leaders:
I am Abby Heckman. I was born and raised in southern Indiana. I work as a land planner.
I enjoy serving with the youth because they are a fun group. They bring a different perspective to conversations about Christ and I hope my perspective helps prepare them to talk to others about Christ. I’m glad I have the opportunity to listen to their concerns and accomplishments, and to pray for them.
