CFOs concerned about economy, quality
Chief financial officers would be expected to have views that are in
sync with CEOs and industry leaders generally. But in some
instances, they see things a bit differently.
While the top two priorities (quality, physician recruitment) are
shared by CFOs and healthcare leaders across the industry, the
CFOs don’t as firmly embrace the overall choice for No. 3
(consumer satisfaction). Rather, these finance folks see
reimbursement rounding out the top 3, with consumer satisfaction
back in the No. 7 slot.

We also see the CFOs differ on the top drivers of healthcare costs.
They see physician inefficiency as the fourth-biggest driver, while
overall, healthcare leaders from all sectors ranked that at No. 10.
Similarly, while malpractice came in at No. 5 overall, CFOs ranked
it as only the tenth-most significant cost driver.
