Serving at First Light
A Time to Celebrate! Easter takes us from the lowest valley of death to the unimaginable heights of
heaven! It is the story of our sin and brokenness; of Christ’s suffering and
sacrifice; of a horrific cross and cruelest death; of ultimate victory breaking
forth from seeming defeat and despair… the breaking forth of a glorious Light
in the darkest moment of human history! It’s power and truth revealed with
such acts of power that so few words were needed – On the cross Christ cried
out, “Finished!” At the graveyard the angels declared, “He is risen!”
It may not be one of the hymns we will sing during Lent or Holy Week, but I can’t help but
think of the words to the hymn, Lift High the Cross. “Lift high the cross, the love of Christ
proclaim till all the world adore His sacred name. So shall our song of triumph ever be: Praise
to the Crucified for victory!” That resurrection morning was a “game-changer” for humanity;
past, present, and future. Before Christ, no one would have sung to lift “high” a cross – it was
a sign of death! No one would have imagined that there was victory for a person who was
crucified! No one would have ever been inspired to write such words – until CHRIST!
Praise God! Easter isn’t about bunnies and baskets. It is about love, sacrifice, victory, and
hope! The death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus Christ is the most important event in
human history. It's the most important event in your life and in mine.
How will you celebrate Christ? Holy Week begins with Palm Sunday as we remember the
triumphal entry of Christ coming as the King! Join us as we celebrate the King of kings with
one combined service at Sunday March 29th at 10:30am. We will also have a Maundy-
Thursday service Thursday night and a Good Friday service Friday night.
He is risen!
