Pivot Summit 2015 engaged over 300 creative and digital professionals with speakers, networking and collaboration. The event trended No 2 in Australia on Twitter for six hours and attracted significant commercial sponsorship and government funding.
Pivot Summit 2016 will be held on Friday 2 December in Geelong, Victoria. It expected that it will attract participation from over 600 attendees and more than 2,000 unique online streams.

Silicon Valley Comes To Silicon BayAn interview by Brian Solis conducted with fellow presenter Robert Scoble (both with significant social media audiences) was shared and viewed over 6,000 times across the world. This short video supported the promotion of Pivot Summit via two respected leaders from Silicon Valley as well as profiling Geelong as a destination.
Kickstarter campaign – AirBoltRobert Scoble interviewed an attendee about his Kickstarter (crowd funding) campaign that was going to be launched that night. Robert Scoble has over 660,000 followers on Facebook. The product is a Bluetooth travel/luggage lock that you unlock with your phone so you don’t need to worry about keys and the lock can’t be picked.
Robert posted the interview on Facebook prior to the crowd funding launch. As a result of the exposure on social media the Kickstarter campaign reached its $50,000 target within a few days. The campaign ended up raising $150,000.
Pivot Summit was first held in 2015 as a single day event and is planned to grow into a multi-day, multi-site event incorporating digital and interactive film, music and exhibitions, entrepreneurial innovation, idea generation and creative collaboration over the years. What is the purpose of the Pivot Summit?
Who is behind Pivot Summit?Pivot Summit was conceived as the brainchild of Geelong-based digital marketer Leighton Wells (Digitalsmith) and is supported by Telstra as a major partner. A committee has been formed under a not for profit association structure.
The committee includes a group of Geelong entrepreneurs and creative industries professionals with a belief in the global economic potential of digital and creative industries in Australia’s future and the opportunity for Geelong to be a key player.
