MATE is the Marine Advanced Technology Education Center and is a partnership between industry and education that has grown since its creation in 1997.MATE Scotland ROV Challenge is one of 24 Regional Contests that form the first round of the MATE International Student ROV Competition. We have been a MATE partner since 2008 and have grown from four schools from Aberdeen to over a dozen schools from all over Scotland. Students from RGU, who compete in the senior class of the competition, are central to our outreach activities. The team, as engineering ambassadors, run workshops for schools and demonstrations of ROV work.We are looking for industry partners as mentors, judges and sponsors. PhotoSynergy Ltd (PSL) is a Scottish based innovative lighting company specialising in side emitting fibre concept that carries no electrical power – only light – called LIGHTPATH. The Underwater Centre provides an offshore trials and testing facility at an onshore location with onshore costs.

The Underwater Centre, Fort William, is the ideal location to conduct subsea trials and testing, allowing you to get the best from your trial in a convenient and cost-effective way. With tidal water depths in excess of 150m, a 1.5million litre onshore seawater tank, plus industry experienced personnel, the Centre provides a convenient solution to subsea testing, at a fraction of the cost of going offshore. Recent trials carried out have been for sectors such as fibre-optic cable laying, through-water communications, oil and gas and scientific research.

The Underwater Centre also provides specialist training for commercial divers, ROV pilot technicians and associated support staff in a contextual experience environment. The Centre’s facilities include a large pier which incorporates multiple dive and ROV stations, welding bays, and hyperbaric chambers, as well as a range of barges and vessels which include a work class ROV and ROV support vessel.

Raising interest in STEM subjects and manufacturing an innovative bio-composite hull, human powered submarine for the ISR competitions in Washington.

Warwick Sub is a final year engineering Masters project at the University of Warwick. We are a team of 8 students from multiple disciplines aiming to take part in the International Submarine Races in Washington, USA in June 2015. Our project aims to target the shortage of engineers by raising the awareness and interest of STEM subjects at local schools, raise the profile of marine engineering at the university, incorporate innovative concepts and materials in our design and finally promote the increased numbers of women in engineering. 2014 saw our first entry to the competition pitched against several internationally recognised academic institutions. Warwick placed fourth worldwide.

Their most important product is XaitPorter, software that allows several people to work on the same document, simultaneously. Among Xait’s most important clients are 50+ Oil and Gas operators and 30+ Oil Service companies. Among them, four of the six largest Oil Service companies who use XaitPorter globally. Organisations use XaitPorter worldwide when they require several people to work on large and complex documents, such as tenders, proposals and reports. The NORSOK standard is created using XaitPorter. Today XaitPorter is the standard tool for writing the licensing round application for North Sea acreage.
