I was born Deaf.I am the only Deaf in the family.I learned to paint when I was 6 years old.
I used to live in
Washington State.
I was born
in California.
We are here in
Edmonton.
Today I live in Colorado, USA.

My parents encouraged me to keep painting.
I went to school to study art.
These are my early paintings.
Then I began to paint Deaf Art.
My paintings are about Deaf experience.
That is called “Deaf View Image Art.”
A short name for De’VIA.
De’VIA History
• De’VIA was first established in 1989,
• by nine Deaf Artists. Almost 25 years ago.
• De’VIA work is about Deaf experience.
• Symbols are in artwork.
• Three themes are in De’VIA artwork:
1 happy and proud
2 unhappy or sad3 both happy and sad
